We were saddened to hear about the passing of legend Dr. Tom Riddle over the weekend. Dr. Riddle was one of the very first people on our advisory board and he was instrumental in the framework of our program from early on. He served as a trusted advisor over the years and as our advisory board chair for several of those. He was named Friend of UK Ag Equine Programs in 2017. A legend in equine veterinary medicine, he not only positively impacted so many horses in his career, he also impacted so many of our students. He led with a quiet kindness and we are all better for his presence in our lives. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his cherished family, friends and colleagues.

Save the date for our annual Weekend of Service, October 17-18 as we give back to Kentucky's horse industry! We’ll be serving throughout the weekend at BraveHearts Equine Center, Justin’s Place, Kentucky Equine Adoption Center and Spy Coast Farm’s EquiConnect event. And there’s an extra perk - the first 80 volunteers to sign up will receive a T-shirt!

There are a variety of ways to get involved, with tasks ranging from event registration, cleaning water buckets, numbering paddocks, serving lunches, clearing trails and more.

Whether you’re looking to lend a helping hand, meet new people or simply spend a weekend giving back to the equine community, this is a great opportunity to get involved and make a difference.

Congratulations Dr. Menarim! 👏👏👏He's not only a deserving researcher, but he's a valued mentor for our Equine Science and Management undergraduates and alums who have been interested in equine research over the years.

Join us in congratulating Dr. Bruno Menarim!

The University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment is announcing Dr. Menarim as the third faculty member to become one of The Bill Gatton Foundation Endowed Chairs.

Menarim’s research in the Department of Veterinary Science and the Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center at Martin-Gatton CAFE addresses high-priority areas in biomedical needs and the equine agricultural economy. Inside the UK Musculoskeletal Research Lab, Menarim is focusing on orthopedic immunology research involving equine musculoskeletal diseases, injuries and treatments to improve both animal and human health in Kentucky and beyond.
