Academy of Shotokan Karate is a traditional Japanese Karate School in the Columbia and Lexington area of South Carolina. We are members of the Japan Karate Association-US and the American Amateur Karate Federation. These memberships are the assurance of quality and authenticity of traditional Japanese martial arts. We provide the opportunity to learn traditional karate, self-defense, as well as pr

oviding an opportunity to increase your physical fitness. We are a group of traditional karate practitioners that have developed a tremendous training regime under the guidance of the American Amateur Karate Federation, Japan Karate Association-US, and Japan Karate Association-SAR. Our purpose is to promote traditional karate in a healthy, body friendly manner. The Academy of Shotokan, LLC is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine. We approach traditional karate by applying proper biomechanics and exercise physiology with the end goal of training healthy.

Attention all martial arts enthusiasts!

Academy of Shotokan Karate is excited to announce that we will be starting a beginner's class for Traditional Japanese Karate starting next week. This class is perfect for anyone who is interested in learning the fundamentals of karate and wants to improve their physical fitness, self-defense skills, and discipline.

Our experienced and qualified instructor Sensei John T Hyatt Jr will guide you through the basics of karate, including stances, strikes, kicks, blocks, and kata (forms). No prior experience is necessary, and we welcome people of all ages and fitness levels.

The beginner's class will be held at our Dojo located at 821 E Main St C, Lexington, SC 29072 every Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
