Welcome, Ms. Becky Carter! As a Visual Arts teacher, my goal is to inspire students to see the beauty in the world around them and to express their individuality through art. Outside the classroom, I love hiking with my family, reading, and experimenting with new baking recipes. I can’t wait to dive into the new school year and make some art together! After all, life’s a canvas-let’s paint it together!

The wait is officially over! Tomorrow morning, we open our doors to welcome back our amazing Breckinridge Bears—from our newest Kindergarten friends to our standout leaders in 5th Grade! 🎒✨

Get those backpacks packed, set those alarms, and gear up in your best Blue & Yellow! We can’t wait to see your bright smiles and start another year full of learning, growth, and Bear pride. 💙💛

📋 First-Day Checklist & Reminders
⏰ Arrival: Doors open at 7:15am
🚌 Transportation: Double-check your bus route or carline procedures.

Here are some reminders about morning & afternoon dismissal:
* Car Riders- Cars enter and line up on St. William. Enter from Coburn Drive by the shopping center. Cars will not be allowed to enter from St. Mathilda. Display your Car Rider number in the window. If you do not have your car tag for the afternoon yet, we will ask for an ID and then distribute your tag. When entering the parking lot, pull all the way up to the next available cone. Exit Right out of the parking lot.
* Bus Riders- please be patient with arrival home times. It will take longer than projected time to get students on their bus and unloaded at the correct stop.
* Walkers will be released after all buses and car riders have been dismissed.

Hello! My name is Nimbo Hammons and I am going to be one of the Mental Health Specialists this year at Breckinridge. I previously worked at Breckinridge as part of the behavior team and I am excited to be back in this new role. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Sociology from George Washington University and my master’s degree in Social Work from University of Kentucky. I have two sons, Montell and Myles. Outside of school, I run my non-profit, Charlotte Court Inc, and spend time training and coaching at my gym, DREAM51. I am excited to get to know our students and families and I am looking forward to a great year.

Good morning! Just a reminder that Open House is this Thursday, August 6 from 4-6 pm. Come meet your child’s teacher, visit classrooms, complete required paperwork (including the $25 activity fee and afterschool program enrollment), and engage with our community partners! We can’t wait to see you! 💙🐻💛

Hi, I’m Marie Caldwell, and I am so excited to be joining Breckinridge as Intermediate Support Staff. I have a background in Broadcast Communications and Early Childhood Education and graduated in December with a Master’s in Primary Education! My husband and I are Lexington natives, and we have two high school boys and two Boston Terriers. In my free time, I enjoy crafting, watching movies, and my family is heavily involved in eSports. I can’t wait to share my love of learning as I get to know the Breckinridge community! Go Bears!!!

Happy August! Breckinridge (and FCPS) sends all school communications via email, text, and app notifications through the ParentSquare system. Be sure to activate your parent/guardian account to stay in the know! All school information including your child’s class placement and upcoming events for the school year will be shared through ParentSquare. Once logged in, you can see your child’s teacher for the school year! If you have multiple students in FCPS, you will have to click the three line icon on the mobile app and choose “Classes” to see your individual child’s teacher! Teachers will be in contact soon and we can’t wait to see everyone on August 6th from 4-6pm for Open House!

My name is Sarah Rose and I am the new Library Media Specialist at Breckinridge Elementary. This is my 17th year teaching and my 8th year as librarian.

As a librarian, I am passionate about helping students discover the joy of reading by connecting them with books and genres they love. Watching students grow into confident readers, critical thinkers, and responsible digital citizens is one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
