Did you know that many children grow up in homes with very few—or even no—books? When books aren’t readily available, children can miss important opportunities to build early language, imagination, and literacy skills that help prepare them for school.

Having books in the home encourages families to read together, sparks curiosity, and helps children develop a lifelong love of learning. Programs like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library work to close this gap by providing free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five—helping ensure every child has the chance to grow up surrounded by stories.

Every book placed in a child’s hands is a step toward a brighter future. 💙📖

🤸Kindergarten Here They Come!!🤸‍♂️ Last night we celebrated 15 little graduates from our School Readiness Parents as Teachers program. This program is operated through Davidson County Schools, NC and funded by Smart Start of Davidson County. Parents as Teachers is an evidence-based home visiting model that promotes the optimal early development, learning and health of children by supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers. Parents are a child's 1st and most important teacher. With the assistance of our parent educators this program ensures children have a strong foundation for a life-time of success.
