Join us for Resumania and Wildcat Wardrobe Pop-Up Shop next Thursday, Oct. 1 from 1–3 p.m. in Pence Hall's Ramsey Family Conference Room. Students can receive help with their resumes as well as browse business attire clothing courtesy of Wildcat Wardrobe before our Fall 2026 Internship and Career Fair on Oct. 7.

Sean Burns, an associate professor in the School of Information Science in CI, was recognized Sept. 16 with the UK Online Teaching Award.

The award was created to recognize a faculty member who demonstrates exemplary commitment to developing and teaching credit-bearing online courses and advancing the broader field of online education.

“Sean’s work reflects exactly what we hoped this award would recognize: intentional design, care for the student experience, and a deep understanding of how online learning can expand access and opportunity,” said Brandi Frisby, associate provost of academic affairs. “He approaches online teaching with the same rigor, creativity, and compassion that define excellent instruction in any modality.”

It's Monday, so you know what that means! 😸

Meet CI Ambassador Gabby Mercedes! Gabby is a senior from Roanoke, Virginia, double majoring in broadcast journalism and digital and mass communication. During her time in CI, Gabby has worked with the Kentucky Kernel, the Broadcast Education Association and the SEC Network! She is a national award-winning journalist and podcast host with a passion for sports and entertainment. She's excited to be a CI Ambassador and encourage other students to chase their aspirations!

Fun fact: Gabby can sing the 50 states in 20 seconds!

Keeping the ball rolling 🤘

Meet Bailey Hubbard! Bailey is a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio, majoring in integrated strategic communication with a minor in criminology. She is involved on campus as a sorority member of Chi Omega and a Keeneland Ambassador. This summer, Bailey interned with the Cincinnati Reds, where she gained valuable experience in sports and community engagement! She's excited to be a CI Ambassador because she loves connecting people with opportunities that can help them find their place at UK, especially here in the college.

Fun fact: Bailey has been whale watching in Cabo San Lucas! 🐳

Extra credit assignment ➡️ national award 🏆

Ciah Marks and Serena Florell, two integrated strategic communication students here in the College of Communication and Information, won the Radio Mercury Award for Student-Produced Script for their "Love Radio" commercial script this summer.

They wrote the script after Elizabeth Spencer, an assistant professor in ISC, offered her students extra credit to create an original radio ad and submit it to Radio Mercury judges.

Students who already take classes in the Spectrum Studio as well as those who haven't had the opportunity to visit this awesome space will enjoy the convenience of Downtown Debriefs with CI Career Coordinator Brooke Nowicki. Downtown Debriefs will be held every Wednesday from 1:30–3:30 p.m., Sept. 16–Nov. 18, and students must email Brooke at [email protected] to schedule their appointments.
