Good morning families!
We are going to attempt to go live for our 5th grade promotion ceremony around 8:20AM.

With only 1 day left of school, we spent today celebrating and enjoying time with our scholars. Some dressed up from their favorite decade or wore their school club uniform. The step team gave their last performance for the year. Lastly, we celebrated our scholars’ accomplishments during our awards assemblies.

There were awards for English Language Learner Proficiency, Perfect Attendance, 100% Positive Behavior for the entire school year, Citizenship, Most Improved, Honor Roll (all A’s or all A/B’s), Special Area Award, Math, Science, and more!!! We cannot express how proud we are of ALL scholars of BTWE!!! 🧡💙🐅

We are sending out a huge THANK YOU to Marci Kloiber and The Kloiber Foundation for giving Booker T. Washington STEM lab a generous grant to help our scholars have more opportunity to be creative with technology and engineering design. We are so excited for our scholars! Finally, we made it to one of our favorite days of the school year… FIELD DAY!!! Thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers, police officers, and staff for making this day perfect for our scholars. We also give a big shoutout to our principal, Mr. Tichenor for providing a delicious meal for everyone. What a great team we have! 🐅🧡💙

Time to cast your vote! Elections will take place at Booker T Washington from 7:15am on May 25th to 2:30 pm on May 26, 2023. In order to vote, you must be the parent or guardian of a student enrolled in Booker T Washington.

Today, our scholars participated in their end of the year D.A.R.E. graduation!!! D.A.R.E. stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. It is a drug abuse prevention education program designed to equip scholars with knowledge about drug abuse, the consequences of abuse, and skills for resisting peer pressure to experiment with drugs, alcohol and to***co. Our scholars completed their 10 week session with Officer Caleb Brill and we couldn’t be more proud. Way to go, scholars!!

We would like to give a HUGE shoutout to Ms. Coleman and her 2nd grade class!!! Each group wrote a play demonstrating the life cycle of a butterfly. They were equally AMAZING!

Our school garden is growing! Our 4th and 5th grade scholars along with Ms. Proctor and Mrs. Patterson have done a wonderful job taking care of our garden. Way to go BTWE 4th and 5th graders! Look for more information coming home soon about our BTWE school garden.

Good morning, BTWE Family!
We need 2 parents to serve on the School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council for the 23-24 school year. The council sets school policies, determines curriculum, and approves the budget. They meet once a month. Nominations will take place until MAY 22, 2023 at 2:30pm. Elections will occur at BTW from 7:15am on MAY 25 to 2:30pm on MAY 26, 2023. Eligible Candidates: Parents must have a student enrolled or pre-registered to attend the school for the year they will be serving on the school council. The definition of parent is defined to include parent, stepparent, foster parent and/or a person who has legal custody of a student pursuant to a court order and with whom the student resides. Nomination forms will be sent home this week or you can click below for the Parent Nomination Form.

Happy Administrative Professionals Day to Ms. Hernandez and Ms. Rodriguez! The quote that says, “It takes a villlage to raise a child,”  originates from an African proverb that conveys the message that it takes many people to provide a safe, healthy environment for children, where children are given the security they need to develop and flourish, and to be able to realize their hopes and dreams. Not only are you this for our scholars but for staff as well. We are so blessed to have you both as part of our village. Your BTWE family loves you!!! 💙🧡

Yesterday, Mr. Baird accompanied our amazing scholar, Matias Tomas to the 21st annual CATSPY Awards program. Matias helped present awards for athletic and academic performances. Afterwards, he was given the opportunity to go backstage to meet some of the UK players. Congratulations, Matias!! Your Booker T. family is so proud of you. 🐅💙🧡

FCPS is hosting a multilingual workshop for families in May. There will be activities for kids, prizes and food!

Late post but too sweet not to share. Last week, we enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and smiles of some of our scholars during recess. We love our BTWE family!!!💙🧡
