We've had to cancel our event for tomorrow night due to forecasted cloud cover and rain. We're working on ideas for other ways to help the Uptown businesses affected by the fire.

We're saddened to see the loss of Shoto, the Candy Factory, and surrounding businesses in Lexington today. The idea for the Lexington Astronomy Club was born on the sidewalk in front of Shoto and the Candy Factory. 4 years ago our founder started setting up his telescope on the sidewalk beside the bench out front and let people look at the Moon through it. Jimmy would always talk us up while bartending and Wynn would always come to ask us what we were looking at.

Our next event is this coming Friday night and all monetary donations will go to help the affected businesses.

TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT!

Join us for the annual NC Statewide Star Party tonight at Finch Park starting at 8:30pm! We will be on the soccer field.

NOTE: If able, please dim headlights while driving in the parking lot. Drive safely if you do.

Come join us and the Lexington Astronomy Club at Finch Park to explore space during the Statewide Star Party! The Astronomy Club will be bringing telescopes for you to use, or you can bring your own telescope and learn how to get the best use out of it.

This is the 14th annual North Carolina Statewide Star Party, a signature event of the 2026 North Carolina Science Festival. We are excited to be a part of this event, and this year’s theme is “Mission to the Moon.”
