Our preschoolers have been BUSY lately… and by busy, I mean learning a million important skills while having way too much fun. This is what learning through play looks like. Behind every jump, sticker, scribble, magnet, pretend ice cream cone, and balance beam adventure is a child building skills they will use for years to come.

We don’t just let them play. We use play to teach. ❤️

Rain, rain… go away! 🌧️☔️ Our Younger Toddlers wanted to PLAY outside yesterday!

Since it was gloomy and rainy outside yesterday morning, we brought the gross motor fun indoors! There was lots of moving, climbing, jumping, dancing, and burning off some of that toddler energy 🤪✨ And of course… our Ms Savannah and Ms Emmy couldn’t just stand on the sidelines. They HAD to join in on the fun too! 😂Because who can resist a good indoor dance party and some toddler-style gross motor play?!

Rainy days at Kids Korner just mean we have to get a little more creative… and maybe a little more silly! 🤭

Yes… he is eating his hot dog FROM THE TOP. 😂
And yes, we allowed it. Because believe it or not, there is actually A LOT of learning happening here!

🌭 Fine Motor Development – grasping, holding, manipulating and bringing food to his mouth.
🌭 Cognitive Development – making choices, problem-solving and figuring out, “How the heck am I going to eat this thing?”
🌭 Approaches to Learning – demonstrating independence, initiative, curiosity and persistence… because apparently he was VERY committed to this method. 😂
🌭 Social-Emotional Development – making his own choices, developing confidence and learning that he can do things independently.
🌭 Language & Communication – and probably explaining to us VERY confidently why this is, in fact, the best way to eat a hot dog. 🤣
So while it may LOOK like a preschooler has simply chosen violence against a perfectly innocent hot dog…

You know we had to join in on the first day of school pics......complete with the little boards telling us what they want to be when they grow up and what they’re most excited about. 😂🥹

We are SO proud of these girls for taking this step and continuing their education while working, teaching our babies, and juggling all the things. ❤️ But let’s be real… I’m mostly excited to remind them that they have HOMEWORK now. 😂😂

Ready for some good news on this rainy Friday?

Yesterday, our crew earned a 100% compliance on our state inspection! The best part? It wasn’t luck - it was the result of a team that shows up, works hard, cares deeply, and gives their all every single day.

You might ask, which part made this owner the most proud of their accomplishment?
A. It was the first inspection experience for a couple of our staff members.
B. It was also Ms. Kaela’s VERY first inspection as our Director
C. Updated licensing requirements just went into effect last month, leaving not much prep time for adjustments.
D. All of the above

We ended the week last week with a really awesome surprise! A huge thank you to Ms. Kate for treating every child in our building to a visit from the Cowgirl Creamery Ice Cream Truck! They were so amazing! Each child got to pick out their favorite ice cream flavor, making the day one they'll be talking about for a long time.

But the best part? This wasn't just about ice cream; it was a wonderful learning experience, too!

Our children practiced:
🤠 Ordering their own treat with confidence
🍦 Using polite manners by saying "please" and "thank you"
💬 Speaking clearly to communicate their choices
😊 Waiting patiently for their turn
🎉 Making independent decisions
❤️ Building confidence through real-life interactions

The smiles, excitement, and proud faces made the day so special. Hard work, good manners, and brave voices definitely paid off with a delicious scoop of ice cream! 💛

Well, it’s a week of spreading the love around these parts and I couldn’t let Friday slip by without a mention of our Kids Korner MVP.

Kaela is as genuine as they come. Her work ethic is unmatched, her heart is even bigger, and we are better every day because of her leadership and dedication. Kaela effortlessly makes connections with every child and staff member. She brings comfort and ease to our parents and is always sure to celebrate their children’s wins and milestones alongside them.

She’s also become one of my dearest friends, which is a pretty incredible bonus if you ask me. And if you’ve ever been lucky enough to try one of her sourdough creations, you already know she pours love and sunshine into all she does.

I am so very lucky to have her in my life, to work with her, and to watch the impact she has in all corners of our program. Thank you, Director Kaela, for being exactly who you are. Kids Korner wouldn’t be the same without you ❤️

Over twenty years ago, Kids Korner began with a dream to create a place where children could feel safe, loved, and excited to learn each day. After the heartbreaking loss of her mom, who poured so much of herself into this center, Kate stepped in to continue that legacy with incredible strength, love, and determination. Today, she leads Kids Korner with the same heart that this center was built on. For years, she worked alongside her mom, learning the ins and outs of early childhood education while helping build the loving, family-centered environment that Kids Korner is known for today. Together, they poured their hearts into creating a place where children could feel safe, loved, and encouraged to grow. Kate has continued to carry on the legacy they built together while also bringing her own vision, passion, and dedication to the children, families, and staff who walk through our doors each day. Kate believes every child deserves to be known, every family deserves to feel supported, and every teacher deserves to feel appreciated. While much of her day is spent behind the scenes keeping our center running smoothly, you'll also find her checking in on classrooms, welcoming new families, lending a hand whenever she's needed, celebrating milestones, and making time for the children who make Kids Korner so special.

✨ Meet the Hearts Behind Kids Korner. ✨

As we get ready for another incredible school year, we couldn't think of a better way to introduce the heart of Kids Korner than by celebrating the people who make it so special, our teachers. Each bouquet is a small reminder of something we hope they never forget: they are deeply appreciated, incredibly valued, and make a difference in the lives of our children every single day. Before we introduce you to the amazing teachers who endlessly love, guide, and encourage your children this year, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate them. These flowers are just a small way of saying thank you to a group of people who deserve so much more.

Being an early childhood educator isn't just a job. It's comforting little ones on hard mornings, celebrating first words and first friendships, reading the same story for the hundredth time, cleaning up countless messes, wiping tears, giving hugs, singing silly songs, and finding joy in the smallest victories. It's choosing patience, kindness, and love every single day. Our teachers give pieces of their hearts to every child who walks through our doors. They create a place where children feel safe, loved, seen, and confident enough to grow. The impact they make doesn't end when the school day is over; it becomes part of a child's story. We know how much trust families place in us, and we never take that for granted. ☀️🌿 Summer is one of our favorite times of the year at Kids Korner!

We've officially kicked off our Summer Library Program, we're spending lots of time on nature walks, enjoying park days, and making memories through all kinds of hands-on play and exploration. Honestly, some of the best learning moments happen when the children don't even realize they're learning! Whether we're hunting for cool bugs on the trail, listening to stories at the library, climbing at the park, or having conversations about something we found outside, our days are full of opportunities to learn, grow, and discover.

As early childhood educators, we know that play isn't a break from learning....it IS learning. Through play, children are building friendships, developing language skills, solving problems, practicing self-regulation, using their imaginations, and gaining confidence. Those are skills that can't always be taught from a worksheet but are learned through meaningful experiences.

You might see us getting a little dirty, collecting way too many sticks and rocks, or coming home tired from a day of adventure, but that's exactly how childhood should be. ❤️ We're looking forward to a summer filled with sunshine, exploration, laughter, and lots of learning through play!
