Congratulations to Ev Townsend, one of our 8th Graders who placed 3rd in the Photography category, 12-14 age group, of the 2026 International Young Artists and Authors Showcase over the Summer. Her piece was named, Generational Change.
Judges comments on Ev's piece:
"I would first like to express my sincere gratitude for your remarkable submission to the Young Artists and Authors Showcase (YAAS). The 2026 theme, Voices of Today, Visions of Tomorrow, embodied the mission of Sister Cities International through people to people diplomacy . Your submission, “Generational Change,” not only displayed immense talent but also demonstrated a profound and thoughtful perspective as you approached this year's theme."

Hi Morton Families,
I hope you are all having a wonderful and relaxing start to your summer!
I know many of you are already looking ahead and preparing for the upcoming school year, and I greatly appreciate your eagerness to get school supplies squared away.
We have received a few questions regarding the supply list, specifically about backpacks. Please remember that the items listed are our preferences, not strict requirements. For example, while we prefer that students use clear backpacks, your child's comfort and preparedness are what matter most. If you cannot find a sturdy clear backpack, or if you have already purchased a regular one, please do not worry—that is perfectly fine!
Looking ahead, we are excited to share that for the following school year, we plan to introduce a Morton-specific supply bundle that will include a backpack and all necessary school supplies to make back-to-school shopping even easier for our families.
Thank you so much for your partnership and for everything you do to prepare our students for a successful year. We look forward to seeing everyone back in August!
Warmly,
Principal, Twanjua Jones

With over 20 years of total experience—including her time as a classroom teacher and mentor in Chicago Public Schools—Rhea is a deeply grounded instructional leader.
