There was not a dry eye in the building when one of our students got the surprise of a lifetime! 🥹❤️

Being a community school allows us to share truly unforgettable moments with our families. Recently, we had the honor of helping reunite a student with their father, who had just returned home after a six-month deployment to the Middle East.

He arrived late the night before and reached out to see if he could stop by the school the next morning. The reunion was pure magic, and there wasn't a single person in the room who wasn't moved.

We are so grateful for his service, and so thankful we were able to play a small part in bringing this beautiful moment to life for their family. Welcome home! 🇺🇸✨

Ms. Delilah generously donated a wonderful batch of snacks for our 3rd graders. Her big heart and dedication to making sure our students never go hungry mean the world to us.

Help your child build confidence, early learning skills, and a successful start to school—together! Registration is now open for Little Stars, a free Family Engagement PreK program.

Quick Program Details:
•Who: Families of 3- and 4-year-olds not currently enrolled in a Lexington 1 PreK program.
•When: Thursdays at 8:00 AM, starting September 3 (14-week program).
•Where: Saxe Gotha Elementary School.
•Cost: Free to participate.

Get ready to rise and shine with your Shining Star! Join us for Donuts with Grown-Ups to enjoy some breakfast treats and get a grown-up’s guide to math homework.

You’ll leave with practical strategies to support math learning at home, plus a helpful toolkit for your student to use! Special tips will be shared by our Math Coach, Jamee Childs.

🗓️ Event Dates (by student last name):
•A–L: Thursday, August 20
•M–Z: Friday, August 21

⏰ Schedule:
•7:00 AM: Donuts, coffee, and juice served
•8:00 AM: Math Workshop begins

Good afternoon, Shining Stars! We are so excited to welcome everyone to the start of the 2026–2027 school year! 🎉

Important Reminders for Tomorrow:
•Doors Open: 7:00 a.m.
•School Starts: 7:30 a.m.
•Dismissal: 2:20 p.m.

4K & 5K Staggered Start Schedule:
To help our youngest learners adjust, we are using a staggered start schedule this week:
•Tuesday, Aug 4: Last names A–G
•Wednesday, Aug 5: Last names H–O
•Thursday, Aug 6: Last names P–Z
•Friday, Aug 7: ALL 4K & 5K students attend!

Parking & Traffic Info:
•Parents/Guardians are welcome to walk their students to their classrooms tomorrow!
•Please park in the lot adjacent to the building on Bill Williamson Court.
•Traffic Pattern Note: Our loop will be one-way from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Please review previous newsletters for detailed traffic flow maps.

IMPORTANT DISMISSAL NOTE:
Please make sure your student's teacher knows exactly how they are getting home on their first day (bus, car rider, walker, etc.)! Clear communication helps us ensure every child gets home safely.

To help busy schedules and families with multiple children, we are running repeating sessions so you can choose what works best for you!

🎓 THE TRADITION CONTINUES! 🎓

We truly had a special day at SGES as we hosted our annual Senior Walk! 🌟 There wasn't a dry eye in the hallway as we welcomed back former Shining Stars who are about to cross the graduation stage.✨

Our current students lined the halls with cheers and high-fives to celebrate these amazing seniors. It feels like just yesterday they were sitting in these very classrooms, and now they are heading off to change the world! 🌍🚀

To the Class of 2026: Always remember where your journey started. Once a Shining Star, always a Shining Star! 🌟🎓🎉

We are so excited to announce that Lexington One has officially met—and exceeded—Dr. Price’s Reading Challenge! 🏆 Our district goal was to read over 2 million minutes, and thanks to our incredible students and staff, we blew that number out of the water! 🌊📖
