Our little learners had a double dose of colorful fun during our Purple Monday and Pink Tuesday! 🍇🎀 From deep purples to rosy pinks, our classroom was packed with vibrant learning, big smiles, and tons of hands-on discovery! ✨🎨

Let’s give a big South Haven welcome to our incredible 1st Grade team! Mrs. Plunk and Mrs. Davis bring so much heart, experience, and joy to our school. Get to know the teachers leading the way in 1st grade this year:

Mrs. Jill Plunk 🤟

🏫 Experience: 3 years at South Haven (6 years total in education!)

❤️ Favorite Part of Teaching: Building relationships and making unforgettable memories with her students.

🖐️ Fun Fact: She knows sign language!

🎨 Favorites: Color pink, Rainbow Fish, spaghetti, all things chocolate, and listening to John Mayer.

🔬 STEM in Action: Saving the Wildlife! 🐾🧪

Our 7th-grade scientists put their engineering and problem-solving skills to the test in a real-world environmental challenge!

The Mission:
A simulated flash flood washed a mix of salt, sand, and iron filings into a local pond ecosystem. Students were called on as environmental engineers to design a step-by-step procedure to clean the contaminated water, protect the wildlife, and recover as many raw materials as possible!

The Results:
Using tools like coffee filters, cups, scale measurements, and separation techniques, our teams collaborated, tested their designs, and successfully separated the mixtures.

Check out these future environmental scientists hard at work saving the day! 👏✨

We explored orange objects, talked about where we see orange in the world around us, and had fun learning through hands-on activities! 🍊🎃🦊

Our little learners are having so much fun discovering a rainbow of colors!
