Franklin County Schools have taken over the education side of FRJDC & renamed it FFECC

03/10/2026

Mr. Jovan Bell recently represented Future Forward Education and Career Center while attending the 44th Annual Midwest Symposium on Leadership in Behavior Disorders in Kansas City, MO.

The symposium brings together educators, researchers, and leaders from across the country to share experiences, insights, and practical strategies that help us better enable our students to .

Opportunities like this allow educators to bring new ideas and proven practices for both academics and behavior back to their classrooms. Mr. Bell will be able to apply all of his new learning and share these strategies with his colleagues at FFECC.

Special thanks to KECSAC for providing a stipend that helped make Mr. Bell’s attendance possible and for their continued support of professional learning opportunities for educators.

Yesterday, our entire FFECC Faculty presented at KECSAC's 2024 Kentucky Alternative Education Summit. It was a great experience for us all and hopefully we can expand on this opportunity to highlight even more of the great learning experiences that are happening inside our facility at future PD Events.

We had a lot to celebrate this week at our facility!
So many big congratulations are in order…

We have had 6 graduate with us during the 2023-24 school year, with 4 students being able to participate in our 2024 Graduation Ceremony that was held last week. It was such a great event and thank you to the many people who showed us to support the newest members of our Alumni!

We also want to say a huge Congratulations to Ms. Anita Groenwoldt who received The McConnell Foundation - The Extra Mile Award at our graduation ceremony. She exemplifies a Franklin County Schools Teacher who is continually going the “Extra Mile” for her students. Ms G is such a leader in the facilitation of our facility’s PBIS/Restorative Practices Partnership and we cannot thank her enough for all she does for our students!

We would like to take a moment to thank everyone for their attendance at The Future Forward Education & Career Center STEAM Day! Our students were able to showcase their talents in so many different ways!

Our have created so many wonderful art pieces with On The Move Art Studio that we needed several tables to display them. Students shared information with the audience about several musicians, artists and mediums they have been studying with the amazing, Ms. Long! Their art work was on display throughout the hallway.

Students have also been working in Ms. Hyatt’s science class on a STEM project to plan and build roller coasters for a statewide competition coming up soon. These projects were also on display during the Art Show.

Last but not least, many thanks to the incredible Mr. McGill from Shakespeare Behind Bars! He is an amazing traveling teacher of Shakespeare and the spoken word targeting incarcerated populations of all ages. He hosted our share session at the STEAM event where students interpreted the plays they read aloud in previous sessions and then performed their own spoken word interpretations of the plays for our audience.

We cannot say thank you enough to everyone for attending and supporting one of the student populations who need it the most!
