Hey everyone! This year, we’re so excited to be participating in DanceBlue as the Mining Engineering Department team. DanceBlue is a student organization that fundraises year-round for the Golden Matrix Fund, which supports kids and families in the pediatric hematology/oncology clinic at UK’s hospital.

Last year, DanceBlue raised over $2.3 million for the kids, and since 2006, it has raised over $25 million.

If you’re interested in supporting this amazing cause and helping our team reach our fundraising goal, please consider donating using the link below. Any amount truly makes a difference!

Congratulations to Dr. Zach Agioutantis who has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Great Teacher Award!
Each year, the UK Alumni Association recognizes six professors for outstanding teaching and honors them in a ceremony at a men's basketball game with a plaque and cash award. It is the oldest continuously given award for teachers at the University of Kentucky.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Agioutantis on this well deserved recognition! His commitment to educating and mentoring the next generation of mining engineers continues to elevate our program and inspire our students every day!

Some of our students volunteered on Saturday at Portal 31, helping preserve a key piece of KY mining history. Students spent the day mucking debris and supporting ongoing efforts to keep this historic site accessible as a learning resource for future generations. Special thank you to Steve Gardner and Aaron Stanley for making this opportunity possible.
