I'm excited to introduce a new weekly feature called Mondays with Mrs. Koen!

Each Monday, I'll share a little bit about myself, our school, and the things that make Independence Elementary such a special place. We'll talk about school traditions, family partnerships, student success, and even a few fun facts along the way.

My hope is that this becomes a way for us to connect, learn more about one another, and continue building the strong home-school partnership that helps our Eagles soar.

¡Me emociona presentar una nueva publicación semanal llamada Los Lunes con la Sra. Koen!

Cada lunes compartiré un poco sobre mí, nuestra escuela y las cosas que hacen de Independence Elementary un lugar tan especial. Hablaremos sobre tradiciones escolares, la colaboración entre la escuela y las familias, el éxito de nuestros estudiantes e incluso algunos datos divertidos en el camino.

Mi deseo es que este espacio nos ayude a conectarnos, conocernos mejor y seguir fortaleciendo la sólida relación entre el hogar y la escuela que ayuda a nuestros Eagles a alcanzar grandes alturas.

Learning never stops at Independence! 📚➕💡

Mrs. Sneed, Mrs. Burrer, Mrs. Moin and Ms. Lombrano headed to the CAMT (Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching) Conference to learn new strategies, gather fresh ideas and bring back exciting ways to engage our Eagles in math learning!

We are so proud of their commitment to growing as educators and providing the very best for our students. Have a wonderful time learning, collaborating and representing IES! ❤️🦅

Reminder for families! Our student information system is transitioning to a new and improved platform this summer — Skyward Qmlativ. Here's what that means for your family between now and the first day of school:

📌 Now – July 17 | Skyward SMS is available in read-only mode. If there are documents you may need this summer — unofficial transcripts, report cards, records, etc. — download them before July 17.

📌 July 13 | Online enrollment reopens in the new Qmlativ system.

📌 July 17 – Aug. 2 | The Skyward app will be temporarily offline. A browser link will be available during this window for document access.

📌 Aug. 3 | Family Access opens in Skyward Qmlativ! Delete and reinstall the Skyward app on your device and sign back in to get started.

📌 Aug. 5 at 4 p.m. | Student schedules are released for all grade levels.

What a way to finish strong! We are so proud of our students who were recognized for showing kindness, leadership, responsibility, hard work, and what it means to be an Eagle each and every day. 🦅

These students have ended the year soaring high, and we couldn’t be more proud of the positive choices they make both in and out of the classroom. Help us celebrate our final group of Positive Office Referrals for the year!

Reminder: Friday, May 22 is the 𝙇𝘼𝙎𝙏 𝘿𝘼𝙔 of classes for the 2025-26 school year, as well as an early release day for all campuses! School ends at 11:45 AM.
