Last week, one former student and two current students spoke to the entire faculty and staff about the characteristics of great teachers. Throughout the question and answer session they shared that well prepared teachers who implement engaging lessons and genuinely care for their students have made a positive impact in their lives. Thank you to 10th grader, Allyssa Sullivan, 7th grader, Mark Gibbs, and 8th grader, Thanh Nguyen for reminding staff of how great their impact can be!

We had a packed house for our evening orientation session last week! We enjoyed meeting our students and their families and can’t wait to open the doors for the 2026-2027 school year! School starts on Wednesday, August 12th at 8:15 AM.

Durham received a ✨GLOW UP✨ and is excited for its debut! Join us for orientation Thursday, August 6th. Please see the schedule below and check out the preview pics from last week for a sneak peek!

8th grade: 9:00 AM-10:00 AM
7th Grade: 10:15 AM-11:15 AM
6th Grade: 12:30 PM-1:30 PM

All Grades: 6:30 PM-7:30 PM

*If you have students in multiple grades, you can choose the time to attend. There is no need to attend more than one session.

Durham families! We are SO excited to welcome you all to a fantastic school year. Construction on the campus is moving along just in time to welcome our students on 8/6 for orientation and 8/12 for the first day of school. Please join us in welcoming Lucia Arcos as Assistant Principal at Durham Middle School! With 10 years of experience in education, Lucia has served as a Teacher Assistant, Parent Liaison, Secondary Math Teacher, and Assistant Principal in Fort Worth ISD. She holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a Minor in Education 7–12 from Texas Woman’s University. A bilingual educator passionate about student success and strong school-community relationships, Lucia is excited to serve and support the Durham Middle School family. She looks forward to partnering with students, staff, and families to create a positive, inclusive, and successful learning environment for all.
