🎶 What an unforgettable 4th of July weekend in San Antonio at the NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singin) National Conference! ✨

Spent the days with my good friend Shaun Senter soaking up incredible singing, connecting with so many kind, brilliant, and inspiring voice teachers, and learning more than I could possibly absorb in one weekend. My heart and notebook are both full!

Already putting these new ideas into practice and counting down to the next one. Thank you to everyone who made this conference so special!

✨ I have no words to express the incredible gratitude I have for this team.
A huge thank you to:
Shaun Senter (Music Director), MC Matiens (Choreographer), Keith Daniel (Music), Patricia Bochbak (Dance), and Ben Burke (Acting).
This incredible group of creatives made my first directing experience at Casa Manana an absolute dream come true.
I’d also be remiss without thanking Kelsey & Waldo, Penelope & her team (Stage Management), Amy (Lights), Mike (Props), Cody (Sound), Cat, Tammy & Caitlyn (Costumes), and AJ (Sets) for bringing my vision to life so beautifully.
I am so incredibly proud of this show and everyone who poured their hearts into it. ❤️

DIRECTOR'S NOTE:
It is an honor to direct The Gods of Comedy for Mainstage Irving - Las Colinas (MILC), the theater I proudly call home. This is the place where I was nurtured and inspired by extraordinary mentors and teachers—Rob and Jill Stephens, Mary Bongfeldt, Bruce Coleman, Tom and Binnie Tomaro, and so many others. There is something special about returning “home” to direct on this stage.
I have been blessed with an astonishingly talented cast who brought their most creative, playful, and hilarious selves to every rehearsal. They made this process pure joy and delivered performances filled with boundless energy, sharp wit, and inspired comedic timing. A special thank you to our remarkable understudies, whose extraordinary talent and dedication deserve to be seen and celebrated.
None of this would have been possible without my essential partner and friend, Amy Cave, whose work as Intimacy Director and Choreographer elevated every moment. I am forever grateful to our indispensable Stage Manager, Hannah Hayes, who seems to know what I need before I even ask. And to our phenomenal creative team—Michael Robinson, Zach Cantrell, Dave Tenney, Rowan Gilvie, and Hank Baldree— and crew, thank you for making The Gods of Comedy look and sound so fantastic. Deep thanks as well to Evelyn Hall and Clayton Cunningham for their unwavering support and guidance throughout this journey.
Ken Ludwig has said that Homer’s The Odyssey was his favorite book by the time he was fifteen. Decades later, Emily Wilson’s celebrated translation inspired him to write The Gods of Comedy, embracing the delightful idea that the gods might step down from their mountain, mingle among mortals, and gleefully sow chaos in the process. I’m so glad he answered that inspiration!
So leave your worries at the door, embrace the spirit of adventure, and join us for this wild, comedic romp. Allow theater magic to happen as you come along for the ride — but be careful, a god might just be sitting right next to you, ready to create a little chaos!

A Lovely Comedy by One of the Greatest Playwrights of Our Time

Directed by Kristal Seid

Daphne and Ralph are young classics professors who have just made a discovery that's sure to turn them into academic superstars. But something goes disastrously wrong, and Daphne cries out in a panic, "Save me, gods of ancient Greece!"…and the gods actually appear! The Ivy League will never be the same as a pair of screwball deities encounter the carnal complexity of college coeds, campus capers, and conspicuous consumption. A riotous comedy where ancient gods bring divine chaos to modern life!
