The Porch: Different by Design

Hi, my name is Megan Kenline. If you already know me you know my heart because I have either invested in you or your child at some point in the last 13 years.

I started this “business” to give kids a space to be themselves and get some stuff done. ❤️✏️

🌻 The Porch is officially open!

After spending the summer researching, writing curriculum, and building resources, I am excited to officially offer courses and memberships designed to help children and families thrive.

The Porch is not intended to replace any support your child is already receiving. Instead, it is designed to complement and strengthen the work being done at home, at school, in counseling, therapy, tutoring, coaching, or other services already in place.

My goal is simple: to help kids better understand themselves, build practical skills, gain confidence, and learn tools that actually work in everyday life.

If you see an area where your child could use a little extra support, I'd love to connect and see how The Porch can help.

If you were not able to make it to The Porch Launch Party yesterday but would still like to learn more about what we do, I would love to connect with you. Whether it's a phone call, a cup of coffee, or a quick visit at The Porch, I'm happy to answer questions and share more about the vision, programs, and ways we support families.

The Porch was created to be a place where kids are seen, heard, understood, and given tools that actually work. If that mission resonates with you, I'd love the opportunity to tell you more.

For those of you who know me and have asked, "How can I help?" thank you. Building The Porch has truly been a community effort, and there are still a few exciting ways to support this vision.

Over the next few posts, I'll be sharing opportunities to help furnish and complete the back porch gathering space, donate outdoor furniture and supplies, or join us for upcoming service project days as we continue building outdoor learning spaces for the kids and families we serve.

Every chair, every helping hand, every prayer, and every act of support helps us create a place where children can learn, grow, and discover that they are truly Different by Design.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. 🌻

If parenting, school struggles, ADHD, anxiety, big emotions, or executive functioning challenges have left you feeling exhausted, I get it.

I'm not just a teacher. I'm a mom of three very active kids, and I live this every day.

If you're looking for someone to teach you how to make your house perfectly calm, get your kids to entertain themselves all day, or magically listen the first time every time, I'm probably not your person.

What I can do is help you understand your child's differences, figure out what is really driving the behavior, and take some of the weight off your shoulders.

The tools I share through The Porch come from 12+ years in the classroom, countless hours supporting families, and plenty of trial and error in my own home.

Let me share some of the strategies, routines, and resources that have helped make life a little less overwhelming and a lot more manageable.

🌻 The light is always on at The Porch. 💛

!!!!!!NEW COURSE ALERT!!!!!!

⚾🌻🏡 STEPPING OUT OF THE BOX 🧠💪🏼⚾

⚾ Not another hitting clinic or a promise to get playing time that parents think that their kid deserves

Because most athletes don't struggle with mechanics or skills

They struggle with what happens after the strikeout.

And most parents aren't struggling because they don't care how it affects them

They're struggling because nobody ever taught them how to support an athlete without carrying the pressure for them.

🌻 That's why I created Stepping Out of the Box with Confidence through The Porch.

This program focuses on the skills that matter long after the final inning:

🧠 Mental Toughness
💛 Confidence
⚾ Resilience
🗣 Communication
🏡 Family Connection
✔ Accountability
🌱 Emotional Regulation
💙 A Healthy Love of the Game

We'll cover:
⚾ The Mental Game
⚾ Confidence Under Pressure
⚾ Handling Failure & Setbacks
⚾ Communicating with Coaches
⚾ What Coaches Really Look For
⚾ Character On & Off the Field
⚾ The Family Dugout

As a coach's kid, athlete, baseball mom, coach's wife, educator, and ADHD/neurodivergent coach, I've spent my life in sports from every angle.

And here's what I've learned:

The biggest impact doesn't happen on the field.

It happens in the dugout.
In the car ride home.
At the dinner table.
And in the moments when a child decides whether a mistake will define them or refine them.

My goal is simple:

🌻 Strong Minds
🏡 Strong Families
⚾ Stronger Athletes

More than baseball.
More than sports.

Building confident athletes, connected families, and a stronger love of the game.

Because it doesn't last forever.

Busy moms and dads do not get enough credit in the summer. Especially when you do not have calm children who will quietly read a book in a hammock for hours. Just me? No, ok, keep reading!

Whether you stay home, work full time, or somehow do both at the same time, raising kids these days is hard.

“Mom, can I have your phone?”
“All my friends have phones.”
“Can I have a snack?”
“I don’t know how to do my chores.”
“Hey Mom?”
“Hey Mom?”
“HEY MOM?”
And by the end of the day, you are replaying everything you wish you had done differently while also being grateful everyone is alive, fed-ish, and mostly okay.

I get it.

I have three kids of my own, and I worked full time as a teacher from the time my oldest was 8 months old. I know what it feels like to go 100 mph all school year, hit summer, and suddenly realize you are exhausted but still responsible for creating structure, meals, memories, chores, activities, screen limits, and peace in your house.

When I was teaching, I always wished someone would hand me a summer “lesson plan” for my own kids.

So now I made one.
Controlled Chaos: The Summer System Sessions is designed to help families move from surviving summer to actually enjoying it.

For $250, your family gets 4 one-and-a-half-hour sessions in which I help your child build routines, understand chores, practice responsibility, and learn to be part of the family team.

We will work on:
Chores before screens
Daily routines
Task initiation
Screen-time battles
Helping around the house
Summer structure that actually fits your family

You do not have to figure it all out by yourself. I can help you control your Chaos. Sometimes it just takes another voice.
Let me help you build a plan that works for your people, your house, and your summer.
Try it out. Give it a shot. Your future summer self will thank you. Check out the schedule and give it a shot. What is the worst that could happen? Chores are getting done, and they are earning time on screens and not fighting? Sounds Terrible 😉

These past couple of weeks have been so sweet.

The Porch has been busy… and not busy at the same time.

Busy because we’ve been getting a lot done. Not busy because we’ve been slowing down enough to do the work that really matters.

The best part? Watching people find a space where they can just be.

No judgment.
No overthinking every conversation afterward.
Not wondering if I said the wrong thing or if they didn’t like the lesson.
No pretending. Just understanding and learning that we are all different and that it is part of the design. Same with The Porch.

Just people doing good work alongside other people who simply get it.

We’ve laughed. We’ve learned. We’ve worked through hard things. We’ve built plans, practiced skills, and taken steps forward.

And it’s been good.

If that sounds like something you or your child need, I’d love to have you.

Check out the website, pick a time, and come experience what The Porch is really about. You’ll get so much more than a place to sit and talk.

It’s work.

But it works.

Because it’s good work.

Come on over.

The porch light is always on. 🌻🏡

Working on something right now that may or may not be life changing for most parents…. Other than Controlled Chaos and Stepping Stones.
