WVU Extension is hosting a Pesticide Recertification Training on Wednesday October 28th at the WVU Building, at the State Fair of WV, from 10 am to 4 pm.

This training provides pesticide credits for Categories 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 11, and 12. Pesticide credits are also available for Private Applicators, International Society of Arboriculture, and Society of American Foresters.

Attendees have the option to attend the morning session (10 am to 12 pm) for 4 credits or the full program (10 am to 4 pm) for 10 credits. Lunch is not provided.

Please register at https://go.wvu.edu/PestCert. The cost for the program is $10. You can pay when you register or at the door on the 28th.

The New 4-H Year is upon us!

🍀4-H is open to all youth between the ages of 5 to 21. Youth aged 8 (as of 6/30/26) to 21 (as of 9/30/27) can join as a 4-H member.
🍀Youth aged 5 to 7 (as of 6/30/26), who are interested in the practices of 4-H can start in the Cloverbud program, which focuses more on fun and social activities that set the stage for future learning! 🧠

Please remember this is a two-step process once you have enrolled or re-enrolled we in the county office have to go in and approve your account. This step takes time, so we ask for your patience! Thank you!

The State Livestock Roundup, registration is now open. The 96th Annual State 4-H/FFA Livestock Roundup will be on September 16-20, 2026 at Jackson’s Mill.

Congratulations to former Greenbrier Co 4-Her and one of our former summer interns, Garrett Vaughan on becoming the WVU Extension Service-Pocahontas County Ag and Natural Resources Agent. He is bringing a wealth of knowledge to his new position, and has some big shoes to fill there.
