Today, McCourt Label Company recognizes Indigenous Peoples’ Day and honors the histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples and communities.
For McCourt Label, this recognition also carries special meaning close to home.
Our corporate home is in Lewis Run, Pennsylvania, in a region closely connected to the Seneca Nation’s Allegany Territory in Western New York, including the City of Salamanca. As neighbors within this region, we recognize and respect the enduring history, culture, traditions, and contributions of the Seneca people.
McCourt Label has its own long history. Since our beginning in 1896, generations of employees, customers, families, and communities have been part of our story. The historical photographs and advertisements we're sharing offer just a glimpse of how much our company and our industry have changed over the past 130 years.
But McCourt's history is only one small part of a much larger story.
The history of the land and communities surrounding us reaches back far beyond our own. Indigenous Peoples' Day gives us an opportunity to recognize that history while also recognizing the Indigenous people and communities who continue to preserve their cultures, traditions, languages, knowledge, and identities today.
