FALL CLASSES are starting soon for children ages 2-6, with a few current openings for ages 2-4. Our classrooms are both indoors and the great outdoors!

Highlights: a part-time T W Th schedule; school year enrollment or seasonal sessions option (if space allows); a wonderful curriculum developed for children from many years of experience - Montessori (all the subjects), Nature, French, Art, Music, Yoga & Movement.

At Lewes Montessori School we have strived to serve our community and all the positive feedback over the years is greatly appreciated. Thank you Sussex County families! We have just moved our program back to our original 5 acre location on the west side of Lewes.

The Montessori Method of education we teach at LMS is a wonderful and time-proven success for children, as is Scandinavian Nature learning. We believe that blending the two, Montessori & Nature, is a true reflection of the best offerings in education, starting in early childhood.

The world’s first forest school was created in Denmark in 1952, and since then, similar programs have appeared in countries like Spain and Canada. Instead of sitting in classrooms all day, kids spend time outdoors—exploring forests, building things, and learning by actually doing, not just reading from books.

This kind of learning helps children grow more confident, creative, and better at working with others. It also gives them a break from screens and strengthens their connection to nature. Forest schools don’t replace regular education but add something classrooms often can’t: real-life experiences in the natural world.
