Bird Town PA, Falls Township

Bird Town PA Falls volunteers have begun their weekly monitoring of the gourds! Seems tree swallows have started to take up residence, which poses a competitive challenge for purple martins. Preemptive measures will be taken to discourage their nesting to favor purple martins, while providing alternative nesting, that abide by national regulations to protect wild native birds.

Bird Town PA Falls Township board members had the distinct pleasure of installing a Purple Martins bird nest installation over the weekend. Thanks to the generous help and collaboration of The PA Game Commission, Bucks County Parks and Rec, and Bird Town PA, this installation will help support declining purple martin populations and boost local biodiversity networks, and the incredibly informative signage will help educate community members on what the installation is and its purpose. We are so grateful to have been a part of this project!

As birds begin migrating into our cities, lights at night can be a great risk to their flight patterns, and can cause collisions and chaos in the air. Homeowners, schools, and businesses can all do their part to make the skies safer for birds during migration this Spring from April 1-May 31.
