Encinitas Mindfulness Community

Encinitas Mindfulness Community Led by Diana Shimkus in a beautiful backyard meditation space in Encinitas. All are welcome. Zoom also at: https://zoom.us/j/4909809719

Please join us each Saturday at 7:30-9:00 for guided mindfulness practices and discussion. Encinitas Mindfulness Community was formed in June, 2009 as a way for students from the mindfulness-based stress reduction program (MBSR) to continue to expand and further develop their meditation practice and learning. We began our small group of 12-15 members in an office on 2nd Street in Encinitas. We beg

an to meet weekly on Saturdays. We soon expanded our practice times to include Tuesday morning sittings, and then Thursday evenings. Soon thereafter we began a special Buddhist study group for those interested in expanding their exposure, understanding and practice to include practices and concepts from the Buddhist traditions. Diana has training in the Zen, Vipassana and Tibetan traditions and does not distinguish one over the other as a preferred practice. All traditions have deep teachings and beautiful offerings. EMC Sangha does not represent one tradition, religious belief system or perspective and considers itself a non-denominational meditation group. Many of the practices are drawn from Buddhist traditions, though it is our greatest aspiration to offer teachings and practices that are relevant to the truth, wonder and challenge of our everyday lives, here and now.
