PLEASE READ! WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The attached letter outlines the status of the state budget and funding for educational programs. You may not know that part of what is holding up the education budget is the legislature trying to remove program specific funding, and instead distribute (some of) those funds into the general "per pupil" funding that all districts get. Specific to us, they are removing the 99h robotics grant funding that has been responsible for us starting, maintaining, and growing our program since 2019.
The 99h robotics grant has made it possible for thousands of students in our state to have a robust STEM exposure in robotics programs. It is the only reason we were able to start in 2019. It has also been the only way we have been able to grow by starting and funding new teams.
If the 99h grant goes away, OUR PROGRAM WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO SUSTAIN OUR TEAMS and our students will lose this incredible opportunity we have worked SO HARD to provide.
The 99h grant has been around since 2013 and has been discussed, negotiated, adopted, and even increased by our legislature each year until this year. In the past, they have listened to their constituents and have seen the impact it is having on students. Removing it and funding for other specific programming ultimately will devastate programs that are beneficial for so many of our students.
PLEASE contact your legislators and ask them to KEEP THE 99h ROBOTICS GRANT in the education budget.
Thank you.
