For over 20 years (including 17 at Leonard HS), students in Coach Connelly's various English classes have spent a week early in the school year composing a business letter correctly, then submitting an autograph request to a professional athlete, and more recently, other celebrities as well. This group will eventually showcase the hundreds of responses the students, as well as Coach Connelly himse

lf, have received. I do want to give a shout-out to the StarTiger autograph community (www.startiger.com), which provided an educator's subscription to help us along, and our LISD administration, which has been 100% supportive of our endeavors.

Okay, I'm running a bit behind here, but here's a picture of the stack that departed on August 22, along with the two we have gotten back. There have been several bad addresses returned, so hopefully the kids will dig up a fresh address so we can resend.

It's been six weeks, but we finally get to post something! We've had a ton of RTS, and we've resent some of those.
Today you'll see Rory Nieto, the accordion player and one of the founding members of La Maquinaria Nortena. One of our students painted a picture of him, and he signed it! He also sent a signed CD and a couple of notes.
This morning we received one from Rob Wiethoff, who portrayed John Marston in the 2010 video game Red Dead Redemption and its sequels.
The students are pretty excited about these!

It was a rough week for the project, with a few coming back "RTS" due to old addresses. The two successes we did have were pre-prints, not real autos, from two perennial pre-printers, Adam Sandler (two were stuck together, so there's that) and Johnny Depp. On the bright side, Coach Connelly got one in person from the last surviving original Pointer Sister, Ruth Pointer! Will post with any future returns, hopefully soon!

Three more back this week...

Scott Martin, professional fisherman, signed a baitbag and a print, then included not only a signed sticker, but an autographed high-dollar lure as well! The envelope was about to pop with all of that!

Beth Torina, softball coach at LSU, sent a signed postcard with a nice message for one of our players!

Tony Kent, keyboardist/percussionist for Whiskey Myers, signed the printout our student sent and wrote a nice note on the index card, then included an all-access backstage pass for the 2022 tour and several guitar picks!

Great results for our young ones!
