Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) is recognized internationally as a premier summer training program for aspiring young musicians and is the only program of its kind associated with one of the world’s great symphony orchestras. Under the guidance of distinguished professionals, and in the presence of the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO), students are immersed in an atmosphere of extraordinary music making fueled by high artistic standards, rigorous programming, and a rich legacy of learning and performance. No one who spends a summer at Tanglewood leaves untouched by the experience.

Bravo to alum, Daniel Anastasio (BUTI'03,'06,'07)!!

Join him on September 24 in Boston for an interactive performance in an intimate setting, exploring what layers lie beneath the surface of great music. Through a combination of playing and speaking, Daniel reveals how melody, harmony, bass lines, rhythm, and musical structure work together to create moments of extraordinary emotional power. Hear familiar masterpieces in a new way, unfamiliar works with clear attention, and the hidden relationships that transform simple musical ideas into deeply connective works of art.

Featuring music by J.S. Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Edvard Grieg, Martin Bresnick and others, this program invites audiences of all backgrounds to listen with fresh ears, and join in an endless search for deep human connection through music.

The Boston Chapter of the GRAMMY® Award-winning National Children’s Chorus (NCC) is inviting the BU community to an in-person audition day on campus on Sunday, September 13th from 12:00-1:00pm and 4:30-6:00pm.

Auditions are open to students ages 5-18 for the Fall 2026 season. NCC Boston is in residence at the Boston University School of Music, rehearsing weekly on Sunday afternoons during the school year. The chorus is led by an outstanding artistic team focused on developing vocal technique and personal growth within each student of the ensemble.

Interested families should sign up (link in our bio) for children wishing to audition at Boston University on Sunday, September 13th.
