Classroom United: A United Way Resource for Teachers

Thank you to our volunteers for helping us put together over 150 period packs for Classroom United this year!

Period products ARE school supplies! When we think about school supplies, we often picture pencils, notebooks, backpacks, and folders. But for many students, having access to pads and tampons is just as essential to getting through the school day.

During our Stuff the Bus drive, we collected 1,597 menstrual products!

No students should have to miss class, feel embarrassed, or struggle to focus because they don't have access to the products they need.

We are happy to stock discreet period bags, filled with essentials. Teachers can stop by Classroom United: A United Way Resource for Teachers to help their students meet this basic need.

How can you help? We accept donations year round.

What an amazing first day back! We welcomed 45 teachers today to Classroom United!

Hey teachers! We're excited to welcome you back!

Today we are reopening Classroom United: A United Way Resource for Teachers! Please be mindful that while the United Way office may be open for business, our store has very specific hours and ask that you do not show up unannounced, as we may be in meetings, out in the community, etc.

We ask that you visit while we are open from 3:00-5:30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays! This guarantees that we can serve you best.

We understand that some teachers have additional duties like after school bus routes, so we are always open to scheduling private appointments! You can send us a text at 828-222-3832 to request one.

As we reopen today, we ask that you bring your own reusable bags, plastic totes, or boxes to take your items home with you. We ran out of all our boxes last week with the new teachers!

Today, we welcomed 35 new and beginning teachers and distributed 1,461 supplies! Thank you to everyone who donated during our Stuff the Bus supply drive! We were able to collect 13,290+ supplies!

Teachers--we look forward to seeing you Monday, August 10 as we reopen Classroom United for the 2026-27 school year!

With the help of our volunteers, we will be counting/sorting/organizing donations and getting our store ready for first time teachers this week!

Classroom United will officially reopen on August 10 for the 2026-27 school year! We look forward to seeing teachers and helping them get their classrooms ready for the start of school!

Love cookies? Drop off supplies to Crumbl Hickory and you'll get a FREE cookie (or cookie card) while supplies last.

They will also be here on Monday, August 3 from 11:00am-2:00pm at the United Way! Crumbl will be selling cookies on site and 10% of all proceeds will be donated back to support Classroom United!

Stuff the Bus is just ONE week away! We hope to see you next Monday, August 3 from 8:00am-5:00pm at the United Way!

The first 100 people who drop off donations will receive their choice of 1 FREE Game of Mini Golf or Bowling pass from BO's!

Anyone who drops off donations will also be entered for a raffle of a $25 gift card from Bo's.

We extend our gratitude to Bo's for not only donating incentives, but for also donating a back to school teacher gift we will share next month. They are also serving as a collection site.

Teachers--we hope you are enjoying your Spring Break! Just a reminder, we are CLOSED for Spring Cleaning and will reopen on Monday, April 20!

RETIRING TEACHERS: First off, thank you for the incredible impact you've made on students. If you're packing up your classroom this June, your supplies can continue making a difference through Classroom United.

To our CURRENT teachers: as you wrap up the year and organize your space, consider donating items you no longer need.

BEFORE DROPPING OFF, please take a moment to review our donation guidelines to ensure items are classroom-ready.

When in doubt, ask: Would I feel confident giving this directly to another teacher for their classroom?
