📊 Math in motion in the Red Room!

While our Blue Room friends were busy exploring color and chemistry, the Red Room dove into sorting and graphing — using colorful mini animal counters to build bar graphs by color. Red goes here, blue goes there, count them up! 🐸🔵🟡

This is early data and math thinking at its best: sorting, one-to-one counting, comparing "more" and "less," and building the foundation for graphs they'll use for years to come.

🔬 Science in the Blue Room today!

Our Blue Room friends turned pipettes into tiny science tools this week — carefully dropping colored water onto cotton faces (social emotional tie in ❤️) to watch the colors spread, bleed, and blend right before their eyes. 💧🎨

It's simple on the surface (literally, water and color!) but underneath it's fine motor control, cause-and-effect reasoning, and focus in action. Watch those little hands steady the dropper and those eyes track every drop.

This is what hands-on learning looks like at Building Blocks — curiosity first, worksheets never. 🧪

🎨 What a fantastic week in our classrooms! Our friends spent the week learning one of preschool's biggest lessons — how to be a GOOD FRIEND. Sharing, taking turns, kind words, and lots of teamwork!

We wrapped it up with some colorful finger painting fun (and a few very proud, very messy hands 🖐️🎨). Moments like these are where real friendships — and real learning — happen.

Dinosaurs, Friendship & Shapes — Learning in Action! 🦕🔺

At Building Blocks, we believe all learning is interconnected — so this week our 3-4 year olds got to see literacy and math come together! We started with the story "How Do Dinosaurs Play with Their Friends?" by Jane Yolen, talking about kindness, sharing, and what it looks like to be a good friend — just like the dinosaurs in the book.

Then we brought the story to life with tangrams and pattern blocks, building our own dinosaur friends piece by piece! Our friends worked on matching shapes to outlines, counting how many of each shape they used, and even tackled the challenge: "Can you build an Apatosaurus?" 🟨🔷🔺

This activity builds so many important skills at once — shape recognition, counting, fine motor control, problem-solving, and patience as they figure out which piece fits where. And by pairing it with our dinosaur story, we're reinforcing that being a good friend means working together, just like our dinos on the page!

So proud of these budding mathematicians and kind friends. 💛

Meet the heart of our front office — Emily & Nisha! 💛

If you've walked through our doors at Building Blocks Preschool, chances are one of these smiling faces greeted you first.

Emily, our Director, brings a degree in early childhood education and, together with our owner Amanda, over 35 years of combined experience working alongside families.

Nisha started as a teacher here and has been part of the Building Blocks family for over 20 years — she knows this school inside and out, and it shows in how she cares for our families and staff every single day.

From answering questions before you even ask them, to making sure our staff have what they need to give your kids their very best — Emily and Nisha are the reason our front office runs with so much heart. We are so grateful for both of them! 🌈

🎉 FIRST DAY OF PRESCHOOL 2026-2027! 🎉

What an incredible first day at Building Blocks Preschool! From balloons and streamers to rainbow coloring sheets and big smiles, our littlest learners rolled into Pre-K with so much excitement (and maybe a few happy tears from the grown-ups 🥹).

We loved watching our kiddos explore their new classrooms, make new friends, and dive right into learning colors, shapes, and stories with their teachers. Here's to a year full of growth, giggles, and "HELLO learner" moments! 🌈✏️

When we say we're a family, this is what we mean. 🎈

Setting up for our first day of school took a village— teachers, staff, and yes, even our own kids, all working together getting the school ready for your kids!

Nobody clocked in for this part.

Everybody just showed up, because every person here, staff and family alike, genuinely wants Building Blocks to feel special for your kids.

That's the "family owned" difference: it's not just our name on the door, it's our team going the extra mile alongside us. 💛

😍 When you need the step stool to build higher than you thought you could. 🧱

What started as a few magnetic tiles turned into a full-blown team engineering project — and by the time this tower was chest-high, it wasn't really about the blocks anymore.

Watch closely and you'll see the real lesson: whose idea gets tried next. Someone has to suggest the next piece. Someone has to hand it up. Someone has to hold the base steady so it doesn't wobble. And when it gets too tall to reach — the group has to figure out, together, how to solve that problem.

That's collaboration.

That's patience.

That's four kids negotiating a shared goal without a teacher telling them how — just cheering each other on, tile by tile, "keep going, keep going!"

The tower is impressive. The teamwork behind it is the real win. 🙌

Two brothers, two milestones. 🚲

This week, one of these guys headed off to Kindergarten — and his little brother rolled right into our youngest class to take his place. An ending and a beginning, happening in the same family.

Moments like this are why we do what we do. Watching kids grow up here, and then watching their siblings walk through our doors with the same trust their parents gave us the first time — that's not something we take lightly.
