Lenexa United Methodist Church Preschool/CDO LUMC Preschool has been serving God’s littlest learners and their families for more than 30 years

LUMC Preschool has been serving God’s littlest learners and their families for more than 30 years. Our superior curriculum, the outstanding quality and commitment of our staff, and parental involvement are the anchors that continue to compel generations of families to choose LUMC. In our caring Christian community, children are nurtured, families are supported, and life-long friendships are formed. I invite you to schedule a visit to learn more about what makes LUMC such a special place for children to play, learn, and grow!

Our October Mission of the Month is the Food Pantry at the North Central (Lenexa) Multi-Service Center. This fall, the food pantry is hoping to assist each family with an additional bag of food to cover their Thanksgiving meal – the concept is “everything but the turkey.” Approximately 100 families utilize the pantry each month.

LUMC Church and Lenexa United Methodist Church Preschool/CDO are working together with a goal of collecting 50 Thanksgiving bags! You can drop off your donations outside the Sanctuary or outside the preschool office.

See the picture for what each meal kit should include. Check back each week to see how close we are to our goal!

We had our first special moments with Mary a few weeks ago, and we are so blessed that she takes the time to teach our preschoolers about Jesus and the Bible! ✝️

Her lesson fit perfectly with our “How to Be a Good Friend” unit as we learned that God calls us to love and care for others.

“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” — Luke 6:31 💛

We are so grateful for Mary and the opportunity to nurture not only little minds, but little hearts, too!

LUMC loves celebrating the creativity of our young artists ✨

Our Art Show is always a favorite, and we’re so grateful to everyone who came out to support and encourage these incredible kids. Experiences like this remind them that anyone can be an artist—no two pieces are ever the same, and that’s the beauty of it. Art is expression, exploration, and learning all in one 😊

From zoo animals and butterflies to fish and “Tall Tall Grass,” from Elmer the Patchwork Elephant to It Looked Like Spilt Milk, our students drew inspiration from a wide range of ideas and artists—Mandarin studies, Georgia O’Keeffe, Eric Carle, Michelangelo, Kandinsky—and even turned blueprint ideas into real-life creations.

Art was created. Learning happened. Joy was shared. 🎨

Thank you for helping make it such a special event!

LUMC loves moments with Mary!
Mary, our Director of Children’s Ministries at Lenexa United Methodist Church, brings so much joy to our Fridays. On the first Friday of each month, she shares a book, leads fun discussions, and helps us learn about the Bible in engaging ways.

In March, after learning about Jonah and the whale, the kids used their imaginations inside a giant inflatable whale—such a fun and memorable experience! 🐋

We are so blessed for these special moments. 💛
