Coming together as a whole school community and connecting by wearing red is such an important part of this goal. Wow Wednesday!

We’ve been giving out a lot of special awards to our leaders lately! Here are some of our leaders who have really been putting first things first (habit #3) and beginning with the end in mind (habit #2). It’s always special to be able to celebrate exceptional leadership across our campus. Way to go Stallions!!

Wow Wednesday!

Today we had our first official Student Lighthouse spirit day of the year. It was Choose Your Favorite Spirit Day. Spirit days are a great way for us to practice Habit #6 (synergize!) and connect as a school community. It was so fun to see how everyone chose to dress up in their favorite theme! Way to go Stallions!!

Wow Wednesday!

This week our 4th grade leaders had an opportunity to learn about our after school music program! Partnering with ELP and SANMAC, we are able to bring music to San Miguel for any leader that is interested in grades 4-6. This is an amazing experience for leaders to practice habit #8 (Find Your Voice) through music. Leaders were able to explore different instruments, hear from musicians and learn about how they can sign up and participate in the program. We can’t wait to hear the beautiful music our leaders make together this year!

Today was day 1 of LGSD’s Guiding Coalition, bringing together students, families, staff, and community members to help shape the future of our district!

We kicked off our work with the Portrait of a Learner process—dreaming, brainstorming, and asking: What do we want for our children and their education? The ideas, hopes, and perspectives shared today will help shape our new district strategic plan and create a vision for the learners we want our students to become.

And who was a part of that important conversation? Jax (a 6th grade leader) and his dad, Ryan (also a 6th grade leader) and his dad, Mrs Villa, Mr Kennedy and Mrs Jones. Way to represent San Miguel! ❤️

Stallion Station is in full effect! Our student led weekly broadcast includes leaders in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade that give up their recess and after school time to make sure the San Miguel has the information they need each week to be proactive (habit #1) and put first things first (habit #3). Way to go leaders! ❤️

Wow Wednesday!

Leadership roles on campus is one of the things that makes us a Leader in Me Lighthouse school. We provide opportunities for our students to practice their leadership across campus in ways that give back to San Miguel. This can be helping younger grade students at breakfast, lowering the flag everyday or making sure our littlest leaders get to class. Leadership in action!! This week a group of our 3rd-6th grade leaders practiced habit #8 (Find Your Voice) in real life. They participated in the Lemon Grove School District Student Summit and shared what they want for their education and school experience. This powerful opportunity is a part of the process to write a new Strategic Plan and a Portrait of a Learner. Our leaders had some amazing things to say and truly represented San Miguel! ❤️
