πŸ“£πŸ― IMPORTANT FALL 2 ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY UPDATE πŸ―πŸ“£

Attention LMS Parents, Coaches, and Student-Athletes! πŸ’™πŸ’›

As we begin Fall 2 sports (Track & Field, Girls Lacrosse, and Boys Lacrosse), we want to make everyone aware of some important information regarding academic and attendance eligibility.

πŸ“š ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY

Currently, athletic eligibility is being determined using Quarter 4 (Q4) or Final 1 (F1) grades from the 2025–2026 school year.

With the first nine-week grading period ending this Friday, October 16, eligibility may change once Quarter 1 report cards are released.

⚠️ What does this mean?

A student-athlete may currently be eligible to try out and participate based on last spring’s grades. However, once Quarter 1 grades are released, that same student-athlete could become academically ineligible and be immediately removed from the team.

🏫 ATTENDANCE ELIGIBILITY

Please be aware that attendance eligibility is currently being determined using Semester 2 attendance records from the 2025–2026 school year.

This will change at the conclusion of Semester 1 in December 2026, when attendance eligibility will be reviewed using the current school year’s first-semester attendance records.

Student-athletes may have no more than 10 unexcused absences per semester to remain eligible.

πŸ“‹ BCS ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Students must pass ALL core classes.
Students may fail no more than ONE elective class.
Students may have no more than 10 unexcused absences per semester.
Students must meet all applicable age requirements.

🚨 IMPORTANT IN-SEASON ELIGIBILITY REMINDER

Per the updated 2026–2027 Brunswick County Schools Middle School Athletic Eligibility Policy:

If updated grades are released during a sports season and a student becomes ineligible:

❌ The student will be immediately removed from the team.

❌ The student will also be ineligible for the following sports season.

Being eligible at tryouts does NOT guarantee eligibility for the entire season!

We strongly encourage all student-athletes to stay on top of their grades, complete missing assignments, attend school regularly, and communicate with their teachers.

Our goal is to ensure that our Tigers are successful both in the classroom and on the playing field!

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of LMS Athletics!

Let's Talk About the Bond at North Brunswick High School!

On Wednesday, October 14, Brunswick County Schools will host a community conversation at North Brunswick High School to provide information about the proposed $349.6 million school bond referendum appearing on the November 3 ballot.

The proposed bond would address continued student growth and facility needs across the district. Projects include the construction of a new elementary school and high school, safety and security improvements, and facility upgrades.

Since the 2016 school bond, Brunswick County Schools has added more than 100 classrooms to help keep pace with growth. Despite these additions, elementary schools are currently operating at 93% capacity, and enrollment projections indicate the need for additional classroom space in the years ahead.

Want to learn more about what's being proposed?

Come hear directly from Assistant Superintendent Dr. Paschal as he walks through the proposed projects, why they're needed, how the financing works and what voters can expect on the ballot.
