Let's Talk About the Bond at North Brunswick High School!

On Wednesday, October 14, Brunswick County Schools will host a community conversation at North Brunswick High School to provide information about the proposed $349.6 million school bond referendum appearing on the November 3 ballot.

The proposed bond would address continued student growth and facility needs across the district. Projects include the construction of a new elementary school and high school, safety and security improvements, and facility upgrades.

Since the 2016 school bond, Brunswick County Schools has added more than 100 classrooms to help keep pace with growth. Despite these additions, elementary schools are currently operating at 93% capacity, and enrollment projections indicate the need for additional classroom space in the years ahead.

🧪✨ Science was looking pretty GROOVY in 5th grade today!

Mrs. Kern’s 5th grade scientists brought their study of matter, mixtures, and solutions to life by creating their very own DIY lava lamps!

Students combined different materials, made observations, and watched science happen right before their eyes — with a few spooky additions like eyeballs, spiders, and other creepy-crawly surprises mixed in for a little October fun.

Hands-on learning + a little mess + lots of excited scientists = a pretty great day at Lincoln! ❤️🐆🖤

We are so proud of these Lincoln Leopards for showing what it means to be a LEADer! To celebrate, our honorees enjoyed a catered breakfast on Thursday. 🥞🎉

Exceptional Children 2026 Educator of Excellence: Brunswick County Schools

We are so excited to announce that our very own teacher, Kailyn Overby, EC Teacher at Lincoln Elementary, has been awarded the Exceptional Children BCS 2026 Educator of Excellence!!

We are so grateful for all of the work Ms. Overby does for our students and staff!

Here is what her peers say about her.. We are so proud of you Ms. Overby!

Ms. Overby consistently goes above and beyond her responsibilities to ensure that every student is properly served, supported, and included. A deeply intentional educator, Ms. Overby places a strong emphasis on character-focused instruction, ensuring that her students feel safe, valued, and empowered every day. She designs innovative and creative practical learning opportunities that foster true independence and confidence for her students. A standout example is the snack cart program she founded and runs, where students practice real-world communication, social, and vocational skills by "selling" snacks and sodas to school staff.

In addition to her exemplary work in direct instruction, Ms. Overby serves as a pivotal leader within Brunswick County Schools as a member of the Exceptional Children Teacher Task Force and within her building as the school-based chair. She has served on the Exceptional Children Teacher Task Force for the past three school years, and she has consistently demonstrated leadership and an eagerness to lead and learn. She works tirelessly at the school-level to support her fellow EC teachers to address building-level questions and concerns.

It was a busy week at Lincoln this week! 🐆

On Thursday we held a Beginning Teacher meeting led by our BT coordinator Mrs. Adams, where our BTs received some great training. Later, we celebrated our very own Mrs. Anderson as she received the Brunswick County Schools Mentor of the Month award! Dr. Jamie Smith, the district’s Beginning Teacher Coordinator, presented Mrs. Anderson the award. Thank you to Ms. Waugh for nominating her.

🎒 On Friday, we were honored to receive a generous donation of book bags for our students from the Town of Belville, NC

A heartfelt thank-you to Assistant Town Manager Chad Staradumsky and Parks and Recreation Director Kayla Perkins for delivering the book bags and supporting our Lincoln Elementary students. Your kindness and generosity will make a meaningful difference for our Leopard families.
