Dear Leicester School Community,

Welcome back to the Leicester Public Schools! We are off to a great start and this is going to be a banner year at all of our schools.

This morning, at Leicester Elementary School, a bobcat and was sighted with three young kittens. Our School Resource Officer was on site and immediately restricted the area where the animals were seen. Leicester Police then contacted the Environmental Police and school administration.

The Environmental Police searched the area and found no sign of bobcats. They further assured me that wild animal populations are on the rise and this is not uncommon. They advised us to remain alert and report any unusual occurrences. We will have extra eyes during recess, especially at the Elementary School, and staff will remain vigilant at all of our schools.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. In closing, I would like to thank the Leicester Police Department and the MA Environmental Police for their continued partnership and for helping to keep our students and staff safe.

We will continue to keep you posted and I wish everyone a great first week of school.

Leicester student and paraprofessional selected to perform National Anthem at WooSox game

LEICESTER — Leicester Middle School student Chloey Jones and Leicester Public Schools paraprofessional Lizzie Wheeler have been selected to perform the National Anthem at the Worcester WooSox game on Sunday, Aug. 16, during Leicester's Town Takeover at Polar Park.
The pair was nominated by the Leicester Special Olympic School Day Games Committee in recognition of their talent and connection to the Leicester community. Their performance will be part of a special evening celebrating the town while also supporting a meaningful cause.
A portion of all ticket sales from the August 16 game will directly benefit the Leicester Special Olympic School Day Games, helping provide opportunities for student-athletes to participate in this annual event.
Chloey Jones, 13, is a student at Leicester Middle School with a passion for music. She enjoys collecting dolls, listening to K-pop Demon Hunters, and spending time with her family. Looking ahead, Chloey hopes to pursue her dream of becoming a music teacher.
Joining Jones on the field is Lizzie Wheeler, a dedicated paraprofessional who has served Leicester Public Schools for the past three years. In addition to supporting students in the classroom, Wheeler is an accomplished musician. She performs as a vocalist and keyboardist with the local musical duo Easy Season.
The community is encouraged to attend the August 16th WooSox game to cheer on Chloey and Lizzie as they perform the National Anthem and to support the Leicester Special Olympic School Day Games. Their performance promises to be a memorable highlight of Leicester's Town Takeover at Polar Park while showcasing the talent and spirit of the Leicester community.

Dear Leicester School Community,

I am sorry to share sad news with our school community.

Earlier today, the Leicester Public Schools was notified by the family of a Leicester High School student of a tragic accident that occurred out of state. We learned of the devastating loss of one of our 11th grade students, Paul Roberts.

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness to share this sad news. Words cannot express the grief we feel as a community during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts, sympathies, and condolences go out to Paul’s family, friends, and loved ones as they navigate this unimaginable loss.

We understand that a tragedy of this nature deeply impacts our entire school community. During this difficult time, we want everyone to know that the Leicester Public Schools is here to support you and provide a safe space to process your feelings. As such, the LHS counseling staff will be available at the LHS Fuller building from 9:00AM to 12:00PM tomorrow and Friday (8/13/26 & 8/14/26). We warmly invite anyone who wishes to talk about their grief, seek guidance, or simply find a quiet and comforting space to reflect.

Our staff and administration are here to support our students and our school community, so please contact us if we can be of further assistance.

I am so sorry to send this sad news and my thoughts and prayers are with our school community.

With sadness,
Superintendent Kustigian
