The Pennsylvania Dept. of Health Bureau of EMS has finally added Traffic Incident Management to the EMT curriculum. Stating that the current training was not adequate to prevent roadway struck by injuries and deaths. I can totally agree with that statement. There was a lack of that training. This is a very welcome addition to the program.

The Pennsylvania Dept. of Health, Bureau of EMS is adding Traffic Incident Management to the EMT curriculum as of Jan. 1 2027. This is a welcome change as there was not enough emphasis placed on road way safety to significantly reduce struck by incidents.

The Lehighton Fire Police are in great need of additional Fire Police Officers!! Fire Police play a crucial role in the emergency response to Fire and Police incidents in the Borough of Lehighton and Surrounding communities. Currently there are only a handful of fire police officers available to serve the Lehighton Community. WE NEED MORE to help keep first responders and the community Safe.

Interested in helping your community but don't have the desire or time to commit to be a firefighter? The Lehighton Fire Police are ACTIVELY looking for additional Fire Police Officers. Fire Police members must be at least 18 years of age. Training is free!! The duties of a Fire Police Officer are to assist in providing safety on an emergency scene, crowd control, and directing traffic. This includes fires, motor vehicle accidents, police incidents, roadway hazards, unsafe road conditions, parades, events, Etc. Applications are available at lehightonborough.com or at the Lehighton Municipal Building. If you would like more information prior to applying, please send us a message and we will have someone contact you. We look forward to adding additional active members to the ranks of Fire Police Officer as they are a crucial role to emergency response and public safety.
