Distance Learning Families,

It's an ALOHA Day!!! It’s NOT only Aloha Friday, Aloha (hello) April, and Aloha (hello) SPRING BREAK!! Can it get any better of a day????? It sure can, the ALOHA (welcome) to the SUN that's shining brightly on us!!!!

Before your families celebrate and have fun for the next 9 days, I just wanted to share some important dates/announcements to calendar in April.

April 5th – April 7th, 2022 - SPRING BREAK NO classes held

April 15th, 2022 FIELD TRIP – Butterfly Biosphere at Thanksgiving Point (sign-up emails were sent out this past week)

April 20th, 2022 May lunch order deadline

April 22th, 2022 ROCK the RISE Math assessment Friday 9am-12pm (students who have NOT opted out)

April 27th, 2022 – Ignite Spring Farmer’s Market applications due: go to link below (Farmers Market is Monday May 9th)

Important Distance Learning Dates to Remember:
March 15th - 17th - Wear green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
March 15th - 17th - UE classes celebrating their blended learning goals!
March 25th - Field trip to Clark Planetarium (information and sign-ups coming soon)
April 4th - 8th - Spring Break - NO school
April 15th - Field trip to the Buttefly Museum (information and sign-ups coming end of March)

Weather-related late start today Wednesday March 9. 2022. Due to heavy snow, poor visibility, and slick roads, all Ignite students will begin at 10am today. Please travel at your own discretion! Be safe!

Aloha Distance Learning Families!

An email was sent out by Ms. Heidi earlier this week and as usual, I'm highlighting those items that pertain to our DL families. IF you are considering moving from Distance Learning to Ignite's onsite program, your students will get preference after sibling preferences, but you MUST fill out the onsite application prior to the below deadline.

Friday, February 25th is the last day to register for our 2022-2023 enrollment lottery for NEW students. THIS DOES INCLUDE ANY NEW KINDERGARTENERS. Please refer your families and friends and have them submit their applications by 11:59 pm that night. The lottery will be run on Monday, Feb. 28th and parents will be notified of either acceptance or waitlist status within 7-10 days.

FOR RETURNING STUDENTS: If you intend for your child to return to Ignite next year and have NOT completed the Intent to Return Form, NOW is the time. Failure to complete this process will result in your child's spot being opened to a new student during our lottery selection process on Feb. 28th. SEE ATTACHMENT FOR INSTRUCTIONS. Ignite's distance learning program is expanding and improving! Next year it will be Ignite Viritual. You want to learn more, ask questions, and understand what's changing. Please RSVP to join us for our Parent Night from 5-6 pm on Monday, Feb. 28th. Hope to see you there!

Due to the amount of snow and the snow plowers still working at the school, the site day DL program will have a late start of 10:30 am this morning, Wednesday February 2nd. Please have your students dress appropriately. The safety of our students and staff is our utmost concern, so please drive safely.

Thank you for those who attended Parents and Pastries today! One more day left. Tomorrow morning from 8:30-9:30am come have a pastry with us and let us show you the new and exciting changes coming next week! Who doesn't LOVE donuts/pastries? Hope to see you tomorrow!

We had a great turnout for Parents and Pastries today. Looking forward to seeing more families tomorrow, Wednesday 1/26 and Thursday 1/27 from 8:30-9:30 am (open house style). Come have a pastry with us as we show you the exciting new changes beginning next week. Blended learning platforms and Bitmoji classrooms! Fun and exciting additions = reaching goals individually and as classes = pizza/ice-cream parties!!

Distance Learning Parents:

A school-wide email went out today from Ms. Heidi concerning home-based learning due to the rise in COVID-19 cases. This email DOES affect the distance learning program.

Friday January 14, 2022 – The Museum of Curiosity field trip is still a GO! Wearing masks while practicing COVID-19 safety protocols are STRONGLY encouraged.

We will cover the cost for the students and the first 8 parents that sign up. If we have more than 8 parents sign up we will contact you to let you know if you need to pay for an additional chaperone ticket. Because we will be in an indoor venue it is necessary for the museum to keep the numbers in field trip groups low due to covid protocols. So sorry that additional adults, siblings, and non-ignite DL students are unable to attend this time. Please follow these steps to participate in our field trip:

FIRST - Please sign up on our THE MUSEUM OF NATURAL CURIOSITY SIGNUP.
SECOND - Meet promptly at 10:00 AM and check in with Ms. Diane. Please have all Ignite students wear their red or light blue Ignite field trip t-shirts.
THIRD - Once inside the museum, you are free to explore at your student's pace.


Tuesday January 18, 2022 – Distance learning home-based learning day - NO SITE DAY. This ONLY applies to Tuesday cohort students. Teachers will communicate by Friday January 14th with details and links to Tuesday’s class meetings, assignments, and activities. At this point, the class schedule for ONLY Tuesday 1/18 students will be:

Upper Elementary (Ms. Alex’s class) – Tuesday 1/18 at 10:00 am

Lower Elementary (Ms. Nicole’s class) – Tuesday 1/18 at 11:00 am

Middle School (Ms. Diane’s class) – Tuesday 1/18 at 12:00 pm

If you purchased school lunch for your child on Tuesday 1/18 it will be refunded.

At this point, in-person learning will resume for Wednesday 1/19 and Thursday 1/20 site day classes!

The health and safety of our students, families and staff is our priority. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hau’oli Makahiki Hou (Happy New Year in Hawaiian!)

I hope everyone had a pleasant winter break. Hopefully some of you went somewhere warm (Hawaii would have been amazing), but if not, here’s a little bit of sand, water, and sun that I’m sending your way to wish you a Hau’oli Makahiki Hou (try pronouncing this for the lesson of the day :) from our DL program to your family!

Our distance learning program is ramping up to finish off the school year with some amazing field trips, fun site day projects and learning, and of course, necessary reminders and announcements.

1. Field Trip to the Museum of Curiosity is right around the corner. Come explore with us on Friday January 14, 2022 at Thanksgiving Point. There’s still time to sign up! We will pay for Ignite students. FIRST - Please sign up on our THE MUSEUM OF NATURAL CURIOSITY SIGNUP. SECOND - Meet promptly at 10:00 AM and check in with Ms. Diane. Please have all Ignite students wear their red or light blue Ignite field trip t-shirts. THIRD - Once inside the museum, you are free to explore at your student's pace.

2. We are implementing a new learning tool for your students. Come into class for Parents & Pastries (yes, yummy pastries provided) when you drop off your site day students on Tuesday 1/25, Wednesday 1/26, or Thursday 1/27 between 8:30-9:30 am for a short preview of the “FUN!” Let your teachers show you! You’ll love it! Your students will love it! They will get to do additional activities and lessons at home. For those who don’t attend site days - you won’t want to miss this demonstration (AND yummy pastries). Email myself or your teacher and choose a morning. Yes, bring your student(s) with you.

3. Attached is a reminder of the Ignite Distance Learning Disclosure Document 2021-2022 that each parent consented to during your initial SEP (student educational plan) meeting. 2021-22 Distance Learning Disclosure Document As a reminder, our DL program has program requirements which are: 1) MONTHLY Parent-teacher connections, 2) Monthly work sample uploads, 3) Daily attendance recording https://forms.gle/LwUEWep5xgKX2BEU9, and 4) Participation in state assessments. Completing these program requirements is essential to the success of our DL program. Please evaluate your completion of these items and contact your teacher to send in past/current uploads (the more the better), get caught up on daily attendance records, and connect with your teachers.

4. As we look forward to next year, our goal is always to improve our program by providing excellent services and opportunities for your students and families. Please participate in our distance learning survey as soon as possible.
