Scarecrows and fall! We can feel the change in the air and are learning about signs of fall. Scarecrows are a great exploration with counting, patterns, letters, falls and an introduction to talking about being scared and what to do when we feel scared. Look at our photos to see what we are learning!!

Apples 🍎 Apples 🍏 Apples 🍎! Today we read a mystery story about a house with no windows and no doors and a star inside! We started a science experiment and introduced what scientists are and how they do what they do. We used a lot of new science vocabulary today (observe, predict, materials, order words). We also started some apple centers. One highlight of this week is looking at the difference between letters and numbers and how we use them differently. Apple study means we are getting ready for fall!! 🍁

5 senses! So much fun. We started the morning by making pudding for snack. Mixing, observing the packages, predicting what will happen. We learned a song to teach us the 5 senses and read a book about silly eaters. We got to taste all the flavors of pudding! We also had a smelling game with cotton balls soaked in different scents. We finished out learning time making a potato head with all the parts that help our 5 senses. So much great practice with glueing, spacial awareness, getting the pieces and following a model. This week will be fun!

All About Me! Today we continued working on routines and learning songs and chats at circle time. We tried something hard - because we can do hard things - and did a directed drawing after reading a book by Todd Parr. We copied his artist style of using shapes to make pictures. We tried really hard and do very well! We talked about birthdays and made cupcakes for our birthday wall! We also played with some of the math manipulatives. It was a Busy fun day!

We don’t have a lot of pictures because teachers hands are full! But we used our No, David puppet to examine the rules of school. We also read more David books, played outside right after the rain (and saw a rainbow 🌈) and then we got to make play dough!! We started practicing our names and learning some exercises that will make our fine motor muscles strong! It was so fun to take turns measuring, pouring, and mixing. Then teacher cooked it while we watched a little video about being a writer like David Shannon! It was amazing when our sticky goopy mess turned into play dough! We got to roll, pinch and pull to make snakes to outline our name. After we made our name we could create whatever we wanted! We even got to take play dough home with our name mats to practice at home (after we ask our parents, of course πŸ˜‰)
