In exactly one year from today, on July 1, 2027, Aspen Peaks School District will officially open its doors, serving nearly 35,000 students in 38 schools across Lehi, Highland, Alpine, Cedar Hills, American Fork, and the Utah County portion of Draper.
It's hard to believe how much has happened in the past year.
We've elected a Board of Education, hired a Superintendent and Business Administrator, assembled an outstanding leadership team, and reached unanimous agreement on how to divide the assets and liabilities of Alpine School District.
We've visited all of our secondary and specialty schools and made a great start on visiting our elementary schools. (If we haven't yet visited your school, please know we have plans to see you this fall!)
We've begun the preliminary work for our boundary study, gathered community feedback on school calendars for the next three years, conducted our Gratitude & Listening Tour with stops at all six middle schools, and enjoyed meeting many of you at summer festivals. (Cedar Hills and Lehi were lots of fun; we're excited to see everyone in American Fork, Highland, and Alpine!)
We’ve listened to your input and developed our Mission Statement and District Priorities (watch for more info at our July 16 Board Meeting), held countless study sessions, work meetings, board meetings and public hearings, and adopted budgets, resolutions, and policies to help shape the future of Aspen Peaks.
We held a contest and chose our own (very awesome) logo, designed by a talented high school student, Noah Palmer. And, in one of my favorite experiences, we helped create a stained glass window featuring our logo, that will one day hang in our district office. (I'll share more about that experience in my next post.)
One year to go! We can hardly wait to welcome our students and officially begin this exciting new chapter.
While there's still plenty to do before next July, I'm incredibly proud of what we've accomplished so far.
