Today we were blessed to honor the wonderful and loving Gerth Family and the gift they have blessed our preschool and church with. They have given us our new playground structure in memory of Taryn's grandma Esther Davis and Zach's dad Donald Gerth. We look forward to the joy it will bring so many children in the many many years to come.

It was a beautiful and special day today for our preschool family as we were the very first to welcome our new Pastor Katie Strednak Singer as she walked into LPC for the first time as the head pastor. The kids made this awesome 'Welcome Pastor Katie' sign and she thanked them with "high fives" down the line. God is good!!

Did you know that our preschoolers work together with the church to compost with !! The kids do such a good job collecting the compostable items in the specially marked cans and they are learning how they are helping the environment. 🩵🧡🌍

October is Fire Safety Month and our preschool has been busy learning all about how to stay safe in case of fire. Check out some of the fun ways we have learned this concept as well as a special visit from Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company!

This year LPCP introduced Second Step, a program that Loudoun County Public Schools use, which is a way to teach the social/emotional skills in the following four areas:
1. Skills for Learning: Children gain skills to help them be better learners, including how to focus their attention, listen carefully, and ask for help.
2. Empathy: Children learn to identify and understand their own and others’ feelings. Children also learn how to show care for others.
3. Emotion Management: Children learn how to calm down when they have strong feelings, such as worry or anger.
4. Friendship Skills and Problem Solving: Children learn how to make and keep friends and to solve problems with others in a positive way.

Adding the Second Step preschool component into our play based learning has given us a fun and effective way to introduce these concepts at an age appropriate level. This allows for consistency in their learning, making for an easier transition to Kindergarten.

Welcome to LPCP Pastor Katie!

We are excited to announce that the Rev. Katie Strednak Singer has been called by God and the congregation to serve as the next pastor at Leesburg Presbyterian Church!

Join us for Pastor Katie’s first Sunday leading worship at LPC on Sunday, Oct. 29. During the 10 a.m. service that day, we will join in an installation liturgy with the LPC community.

Pastor Katie’s official installation as an act of the Presbytery will take place on Saturday, Oct 28 at 3 p.m. at Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church in Maryland during the Presbytery-wide installation of NCP clergy. The whole Presbytery is invited to attend! More information can be found here:

Today we had our first 🤔 Wondering Wednesday With Miss Mandy. The ⭐️Sea Stars and 🐧 Penguins started out by doing some 🌈rainbow breathing, followed by listening and watching the interactive storytelling of 🥧Porcupine’s Pie, and ended with the building of a 🌳friendship tree. We can’t wait to see what we will wonder about next time.

Our first week of school has come to a close and we thought you might like to take a look around our hallway.

We can not let this school year begin without giving a huge shout out to our property leader extraordinaire, Mr. John Niccols. The amount of time and energy, effort, knowledge and attention to detail this kind man has given to our preschool is appreciated beyond measure.  No job, unpaid I might add, is too big or too small for him. He is always willing to do anything we need help with to make our 50 year old preschool shine. When you see him show him some thanks. We are one lucky preschool!

We wrapped up our week with an Open House and Blessing of the Backpacks this morning. What a joy to fill the sanctuary and preschool with the sounds of the children again.

We are getting closer…tonight we had a successful back to school night with the parents and next the kids come! 🎉🥳

Love when the big kids don’t have school and they come in to help their mamas get their school ready. 🥰

We were blessed with breakfast given by our preschool board before diving into our first staff meeting of the year. 🍎🖐️💒

Our first week of camp was all about Space. We enjoyed learning about the planets, outer space, rockets and trying different foods astronauts would eat. I wonder if any of these kiddos will go to space when they are older.

Come celebrate Earth Day with us this Sunday for some fun activities after service!

Celebrating spring and Earth Day along our hallways.

Our preschool is so very blessed to have these three amazing substitute teachers who are always there and support us in our time of need. Today we celebrated them with lunch, handmade gifts from the kids and of course crowns. Thank you for being a part of our preschool family Lynn Ronan Colavita, Alison Thompson and Juli Barnes! 💕👏🌷
