Today I was describing to my class what it was like teaching my son James in class seven (7!!!!!!) years ago and today this gem pops up.

James was a mover and a groover. He didn’t sit down, always walked around and got into everything. When your child does that in class it doesn’t bother me. When James did it, it bothered me. (Teachers kid problems.) He came to a couple classes a week, he knew I was focused on teaching rather than him so yup, I used ice cream as a behavior motivator. 🤣

You do not need to worry about this though! You are allowed to let your child enjoy class in a way that feels comfortable and safe to them (and others of course).

Children are absorbing music even when they are walking. Sitting doesn’t equal now my ears will hear the music. Allow yourself to enjoy the class and your child will follow. The more you sing and participate the more they will be drawn to you to connect and make music together.

Take your child to work day. I’m sure they just wanted a day not at school but darn it if they weren’t cute in music class today.

I have told so many classes about James’ love for the red drum and without a single word, he went right for that drum at the play along just like he was 2 years old again.

They sat on my lap and rocked. We danced and they were so helpful to the littles. They even sang tonal patterns and “hello” on the phone when we used the bells. They remembered it all. ❤️
