The Binomial Cube is a Montessori Sensorial material that introduces children to an important mathematical concept through hands-on work. As children build the cube, they explore patterns, sequencing, spatial relationships, and the way different parts fit together to create a whole. This work lays the foundation for understanding the binomial formula later on, while also strengthening concentration, visual discrimination, and problem-solving skills.

A few months ago, the children planted tomatoes in the garden for Earth Day. This week, they were excited to discover that the plants had grown and some of the tomatoes were ready to pick! They brought their harvest into the classroom for a sensorial exploration, feeling the tomatoes’ texture, smelling their fresh scent, and cutting one open to discover the seeds inside. A wonderful hands-on experience that brought their garden to life.
