The Catoctin School of Music

The Catoctin School of Music CSM is the BEST music lessons studio in Loudoun County. Come join our musical family SOON!!! We currently offer lessons in almost EVERY instrument and genre.

CSM is 25+ AWESOME instructors who LOVE to create, teach and inspire our students and families. We have private lessons and some group classes with all types of musical instruments and we teach and perform all types and styles of music, including classical, rock, country, folk, Christian, and jazz. Our teachers are all performers with degrees in music who LOVE MUSIC and we love our families and st

udents! We have a huge staff of music lovers/instructors who can work with your schedule and skills and push and motivate you to create and make progress and fun with your music. All our instructors/staff hold various degrees in music and several have completed their masters and doctoral studies in music and/or education. Many of our staff perform locally, regionally and internationally and many serve every weekend in their church worship services in our local area. Our teaching rooms are very large, comfortable and loaded with everything you/we would ever need to make music lessons fun, rewarding and convenient. We are located a few blocks south of beautiful and historic downtown Leesburg. CSM’s owners Wayne and Jennene grew up in Loudoun and both have been performing and teaching music here for over 20+ years. We currently have hundreds of families and students studying with us, Mondays – Saturdays, all ages 4 to 75ish. But don’t worry, we keep your experience small and unique so that you feel and know that you are special and family with us and our instructors, because you are important to us. If you are "a star" we can connect you with our special CSM alumni who are musicians and artists performing in LA, Nashville and NY in big projects that you can hear on the radio. 🍉 Looking for an event for your young string student? Then take a look at this year’s first annual Watermelon Seeds Kids’ Academy! This is an event where your young fiddle/violin, guitar, bass, banjo & mandolin students will spend two afternoons working with professionals on everything from ensemble playing to improvisation, culminating in a Saturday morning performance at the Watermelon Pickers Festival! 🪕

Here is our student spotlight for the month of July, Rowan! You can more about her below🪈

“Rowan is a tenth grader at Loudoun County High School and is in her third year with the Loudoun Symphony Youth Orchestra. This is also her fifth playing the flute, which she studies under Ms. Zoey Lamb at CSM. Along with her studies in flute, Rowan has played the piano for ten years and enjoys experimenting with pieces from classical to contemporary. Rowan is a proud keyboardist with the LCHS Marching Captains, the 2025 US Bands Silver Medalists. She also performs on flute and piccolo with the LCHS Concert Band, pit orchestra, and plays vibraphone with the LCHS Indoor Drumline. Along with her musical pursuits, Rowan enjoys photography, reading, playing the video game Hollow Knight: Silksong, leading Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, and taking care of her bearded dragon, Pineapple. In the future, she hopes to study and pursue a career in the field of psychology.”

The Town of Leesburg invites you to attend the annual Memorial Day Observance on Monday, May 25, at 10:00 a.m. on the grounds of the Loudoun County Courthouse. Read below about this month’s CSM Student Spotlight, Vivian Strickland! 🎹

Vivian has studied piano at CSM with Ms. Alyssa for nearly four years. She is deeply committed to daily practice and has earned the year of practice award several times over. Vivian is a 7th grader and plays trombone in her school concert band and jazz band, and she earned a spot in the All-District Band this year. She is also a dancer and a member of the Loudoun Ballet Performing Arts Company, with whom she recently performed in “Zelda”, an original ballet.
