Next week is vacation … and the week of the 17th is the last week to start summer session! So many new students this summer 🥰 but I have room to welcome a few more for summer!
It was a long weekend, but one that filled my music tank. To see so many students perform solo for the FIRST time, to see my school kids with their private teacher, and to see my grandfathered students, and to share the true gift that is my adult students with my young students … speechless. I sat next to my two youngest students the entire recital - and to hear there comments and questions just filled my soul. I cannot thank Ashley enough for sharing this weekend with me and to the Durbin family for being such a rock for me musically, spiritually, and as friends.
Yay! The schedule is being built, current studios are signing up...it is time for NEW students!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳 please share !
What a lovely morning with so many talented musicians. Looking forward to out joint studio recital with Ms Driscoll! Some Spartans in there too 🥰
And...for the ADULTS :) Join me in the evenings for cello for the adult beginner!

My sweet adult students are recital ready !
I wish I had a before pic of that left hand! Cheers to Harsha for putting in the work!
Studio needs some TLC, organization, and a new rug. Lessons have been upstairs and this dog is 💯 taking advantage of the students melding into our family space 😂🤣 Spoiled is an understatement. Summer sign ups coming soon!
The spring 🌸 pics and intros continue:
Like Ben Folds says, “I am the luckiest” 🥰 Meet Les and Tony. These fabulous musicians came to me after years of playing Irish music for some technique work. I have learned so much from them and truly look forward to our lessons. We always joke about them being my adult “kids” - except they listen to me and practice exponentially more than any of my other students (let’s chalk it up to retirement perks lol).
They may hit me for this but maybe they will do us all favor and post some info about where to catch them playing at sessions or gigging!
Congrats to violist Andrew and his classmates from Harper Park MS for their performance of the star spangled banner at the school board meeting! Very well done!
Congrats to Ms E! She PASSED HER TWINKLES 🌟Oreo party for the whole family tonight! Maui for the photobomb 🙈
So proud of Stella (viola) ! Wonderful performance at All County Orchestra 😍
Please welcome Brielle (and Zoe and Dad!) to the studio! Girl, I am so grateful for the amazing Teaching from your teachers in Iowa!! What an amazing suzuki foundation you have - you’re ready to blossom 🌸
Wow! It had been awhile since I have posted any studio news!
1) welcome Liam AND congrats 🎉 on your recent successful youth orchestra audition!
2) I’m pleased to announce I have spring openings - both weekday and weekend
3) please note - we have MOVED! We are now in Ashburn 💃🏻
More news to come including new students to introduce this weekend!
What!?!? That is NOT studio cat 🐈⬛ Isaiah or 🐈 Midge!! Meet Maui, the newest member of the family. He and the kitties are still working on sharing the studio and Maui is still learning manners - so for the next few weeks we may have him meet you outside then have him hang out in the basement where he is happiest. The good news is he LOVES music ❤️
These girls made my DAY ❤️ both have been so busy that that practicing our usual rep didn’t make sense, but they wanted to keep up with some lessons this summer - - so…it was chamber music sight reading!!! They played so well, had fun, and we had lots of laughter…and they are so darn cute!
Looking for a wonderful, in-person arts camp? Please check out Arcola UM's Summer in the Arts Camp! I am piloting string elective classes there this year - a beginners boot camp, an alternative styles pop/rock class, AND an ADULT beginner cello class! I can't tell you how wonderful the staff is here - such kind, talented, and dedicated teachers! Please share out and let me know if you have any questions!
Arcola Church Summer in the Arts Camps 2021 Summer in the Arts Camp is back for 2021!
Grumpy girl Midge only likes viola students. Today her FAVORITE student came for an in person lesson for the first time in a year and she literally watched her leave and cried a little 😂. It was so cute to see Midge sniff and then “remember” her favorite student.
Due to a desire to keep the peace 😂🤣 this one is NOT my private student, but I am his practice partner. Daniel is a 7th grader at Farmwell and his favorite music teachers are Ms Geiger, Ms Kauffmann, then me 😂🤣. Daniel has recently come back from a scary left finger injury and has big goals to finish Book 2 .. 7 minutes of practice at a time.
Roll call! Welcome to the studio Georgia! Georgia is an 8th grade cellist at Harmony MS. Although we have just started working together, Georgia is quickly gaining confidence and musical maturity every week. She is analytical and intuitive which keeps me on my toes! Don’t forget girl , I work for YOU 🤣😂
Winter roll continues! Ellie is a senior 😭😭😭 violinist. Ellie is sweet, thoughtful, and is my favorite way to end Monday lessons. Fun fact -Ellie was a baby the first time I met her-her older brother was one of my FIRST students in LCPS waaaaaaay back in the day !
Roll call! Meet Zoe, freshman viola player from LCHS! Fun fact: she is “ridiculously” good at hoola hooping!
I don’t often have the pleasure of teaching elementary students, so teaching Paul is a gift! Fun fact: Paul’s new puppy 🐶 accompanies him to lessons and I love seeing her grow.
Roll call week! Stop by daily to meet my fantastic musicians! Up first - Andrew, an awesome 7th grader at Harper Park. Fun fact : I almost (accidentally) pulled Andrew off his chair today and he still (joyfully)stayed for his lesson 🤪🥳🤩
Wow was November busy! Weekday availability is now FULL and Saturday availability is down to two spots. Thank you to my colleagues and friends for the referrals! Erin Stavropulos, Amanda Smith, - text me so I can send you your referral gifts
Sometimes ya just need a Disney Day and some bouncing on a physio ball 😂😜
Isaiah is such a good studio kitty. He loves everyone. Midge on the other hand literally only likes my two viola girls....cheers on a great lesson P 🥰❤️
Funny scenes from zoom 😂 and a studio kitty who is so happy to see some of you in person! ❤️ Up next-outdoor lessons!!! 🌳 🎻 🌲
There is an extra level of satisfaction when I slay a child virtually 🤣😂 thanks to dad who is also practice partner of the YEAR for being able to sing the first 4 Suzuki songs and kinda fake his way thru alto clef
Oh my goodness! Katie Richardson Myers, Donna Hancock...messenger JUST alerted me to your messages from May! Silliness. Katie - will do! Donna - yes! I'll message you my cell #
I would love to support your child's music education during this unique time. Special rates are available and as always, materials are included.
Welcome Andrew!!! Andrew is fantastic 6th grade violist. What a lovely way to start my day. Thank you for you lovely bow hold, intense focus, and joyful spirit!
Studio kitty was up to no good this morning...an entire house and she insists on supervising lessons and “helping” print JRO music 🙄
Weekend availability now! Weekday coming soon!
