The Early Learning Coalition of Lake County, funded in part by Florida's Office of Early Learning, has oversight over all state supported school readiness programs in Lake County including the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program. Administration of the programs covers funding, monitoring, contract management and service provisioning. The objectives of early learning programs are to serve as pr

eventative measures for children at risk of future school failure and to enhance children's chances of academic success as they enter and progress through school. The programs are intended to be developmentally appropriate and research based; to enhance educational readiness of children, to support family education and to provide a resource and referral network that assists parents in making an informed choice of child care providers.

What an incredible week!

We were so happy to host Commissioner Dr. Henry Mack and his team, as well as Senator Truenow and his staff, for a tour. Seeing our early learning community come together to showcase the impact of quality early education was truly inspiring.

A special thank you to First Academy Preschool and Rimes Early Learning and Literacy Center for the beautiful welcome signs, and to Browns Early Learning Academy North for graciously hosting the visit.

We are especially grateful that the Early Learning Coalition was included in Commissioner Mack's "Kicks Off the 2026-27 School Year: Visiting Education Providers from Early Learning to Career Readiness" tour. The visit underscored the vital role early learning providers play in preparing children for future success and creating a strong educational foundation that lasts a lifetime.

Together, we are building brighter futures for our children, families, and community. 🌟

Today is a BIG day for our youngest learners as children across Lake County begin another exciting year of learning, growing, and discovering!

To all of our VPK children—today is the beginning of a wonderful adventure. May your school year be filled with new friends, big smiles, curious questions, and countless moments of learning through play!

To our amazing VPK teachers and child care providers—thank you for creating safe, nurturing environments where children can learn, explore, and build the skills they need for kindergarten and beyond. Your work makes a lasting difference!

And to our families—thank you for partnering with us and your child’s early learning provider. Your encouragement and support help make every child’s journey a little brighter.

From sweet VPK days at Kiddie Castle to walking the stage as a Tavares High School graduate — what an incredible journey it has been! 💙

Jaron has always followed her passions, from raising rabbits in FFA during elementary school to dedicating 3 years to the high school band percussion section 🥁. Along the way, she made memories that will last a lifetime.

When she’s not making music, Jaron enjoys spending time with horses and relaxing at the lake — her happy places 🐎🌊.

Next up, Jaron plans to attend Lake Tech to pursue a career in law enforcement, with the goal of becoming a K9 officer 🐕‍🦺 — and we couldn’t be more proud of her ambition and determination!

Congratulations, Jaron Mullins! Your future is bright, and this is just the beginning 🌟
