Learning, leading, and sharing in Richmond!

This week, a group of LCDS educators attended the VAIS Teaching and Learning Institute, where independent school professionals from across Virginia gathered to exchange ideas, explore fresh approaches to teaching, and inspire one another.

We were especially proud to have Dr. Odell, Dr. Kaywork, and Mrs. Cross lead presentations and share their expertise with fellow educators. What a wonderful opportunity to learn, connect, and celebrate the incredible educators within our LCDS community!

Congratulations to LCDS student Kinsey Eaton for serving as Mayor for a Day in Leesburg!
Kinsey had the unique opportunity to spend the day with Mayor Kelly Burk, getting a behind-the-scenes look at city leadership and local government. From meeting with city staff and signing official documents to visiting the Police and Fire Departments and learning how city services operate, Kinsey experienced firsthand what it takes to help lead a community.
We are so proud of Kinsey for representing Loudoun Country Day School and embracing this incredible leadership opportunity!

This year, our kindergarten students were given the special task of creating portrait drawings of the Class of 2026. Under the guidance of Mrs. Rood, they learned about the placement of facial features and were encouraged to draw what they saw rather than what they thought they saw, using simple lines and shapes.

As their final art project at LCDS, our 8th grade students designed and created unique ceramic vases. The vases were displayed in the lobby on graduation day, showcasing the students' creativity and craftsmanship.
Each graduate gifted their handmade vase, along with their flowers, to their parents and families as a lasting keepsake.

Project led by Diane Wikel, Art Teacher for Grades 5–8.

Yesterday, we celebrated the LCDS Class of 2026 as they crossed the stage at their Eighth Grade Graduation Ceremony.
It was a joyful morning filled with laughter, memories, and reflections on the incredible journey these students have shared. We are so proud of all they have accomplished and can’t wait to see where their next adventures take them.
Congratulations, Class of 2026 — once an Eagle, always an Eagle!

We were thrilled to welcome back the LCDS Class of 2022 for our special Alumni Reception!
Our alumni had the opportunity to walk the halls of LCDS once again, reconnect with former teachers and classmates, and revisit the wall of graduating class handprints—a lasting reminder of the mark they left on our school community. It was a wonderful evening filled with memories, laughter, and reflections on how far they have come.
We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and look forward to seeing where their journeys take them next.
