Please Slow Down in School Zones

Recently, two vehicles were recorded traveling well above the posted school-zone speed limits:

• 46 mph in a 15 mph zone on Potomac Station Drive NE near Tolbert Elementary School and Harper Park Middle School
• 55 mph in a 25 mph zone on Battlefield Parkway NE near Balls Bluff Elementary School

When school-zone lights are flashing, please slow down, stay alert, and obey the posted speed limit. Keeping our students safe is everyone’s responsibility.

STARTING MONDAY - SCHOOL ZONES ARE BACK IN SESSION!

As students return to school, the Town of Leesburg’s School Zone Speed Safety Program is an important reminder to slow down and stay alert in our school zones. Speed safety cameras are located near:

- Tolbert Elementary / Harper Park Middle School – Potomac Station Drive NE: 7:30–8:30 a.m. | 2:45–3:48 p.m.
- Balls Bluff Elementary School – Battlefield Parkway NE: 7:30–8:30 a.m. | 2:45–3:15 p.m.
- Loudoun County High School – Dry Mill Road SW & Catoctin Circle SW: 9:00–9:30 a.m. | 4:18–4:48 p.m.

The program is only active during designated school hours when the school zone speed limit is in effect, as indicated by the flashing school zone signs.

These cameras are about one thing: encouraging drivers to slow down where our students are walking or biking while arriving at school and heading home. Watch for flashing lights. Slow down. Stay alert. Help us keep our school zones safe.
