Pizza, pizza!! π What a tasty way to wrap up an amazing Q1 with Legacy Elementary!
Creating like Leonardo by creating, well, Leonardo...
Rockin' out with some instruments (of all shapes and sizes!). Featuring the "flu-drum-itar" -- sure to be a new classic π€πΈπ₯
Happiest little (faux) arrestees you ever did see! Had the most incredible time trying on bulletproof vests, testing out sirens, and taking the "Junior Officer Pledge" with the amazing Middleburg Police Department yesterday! πππ¨
Working on adding some more contributions to our ever-growing "Harold Roof Gallery"! Close looking and sketching?? Da Vinci would be proud...
Had the most magical day picking pumpkins today! And got the chance to solve some real life math problems (If a pumpkin costs $0.89 per pound and you have a $4 budget, how big of a pumpkin can you possibly pick?! )
Today we used "Leo Journals" to capture our BIG IDEAS for . Feeling inspired by (and perhaps a bit nervous about...) these scholars' dreams for their school! Some favorites: pet chickens by the playground; a Zipline from the roof; a hut tub in the girls bathroom (sorry, boys!); and a secret passage running from each classroom to the cafeteria for easy snack breaks.
CAUTION: scholars on a bus! 5th grade explorers at MCCS today used their "Leonardo Journals" to plan and reflect on a special engineering challenge inspired by da Vinci himself... How many gems can you float on a boat made out of 2 sheets of aluminum foil?! The answer for these little engineers: 107!
Learned about measurement in the sweetest way possible today... With a visit to SweetFrog (and a weight-based engineering design challenge in the park)! Ounces never seemed quite so important. Or tasted so good! ππ¦
Let's go to the movies! Thanks for a backstage tour -- including a chance to test out the 4DX chairs, a sneak peek at the back of the concessions stand, and perhaps the world's largest bag of popcorn!! We were so inspired we decided to go try our hand at making (and sharing!) some short films of our own. While sharing said giant bag of popcorn, obviously...
What better way to kick off our "Close-Looking in our Community" after-school program than with an adventure to the fire station?! Explorers learned about safety, asked all the best questions (Do dalmatians dogs really help fight fires? How many cats have been rescued from trees this year??), and got up and personal with some incredible rescue vehicles (Harold might be a tiny bit jealous...). Thank you for just the best visit!
Egg cartons make the BEST scavenger hunt containers!
"Close-Looking like Leonardo" at this week with a schoolwide scavenger hunt! Something Curious? β
Harold is beyond excited about his partnership with MCCS this year! Looking forward to adventuring with the Middleburg 'scholars' every Friday -- starting this week! β¨π
Sometimes there are just no words to describe our Adventures...
