If your child is asking for a Guitar, & you would like for them to learn to Play, but aren't sure of their level of commitment, and You don't see any value investing the several hundreds of dollars for the Instrument or lessons. You are not alone, this is what the majority of Parents go through when inquiring about Guitar Lessons. You have 3 basic choices.
You can do nothing. Or
You can take the plunge, Spend several hundred dollars on this new Hobby that your not even sure your child will stick with. Kids say they want to do a-lot of things. But how do you distinguish the truly Interested & sincere, from those that are not.
A decent beginner guitar average IS $150, either acoustic or electric ($50 for an amp), plus lessons ($40-$60 per 1hr) or ($25 per 1/2hr per week). To be able to play some basic chords & strumming patterns will require At least 2 MONTHS. That's $100 -$200 a month.
So what is the cost really ?
First of all... $150 for a new guitar, $200-$400 (2 MONths of lessons) = $350-$550. PLUS...
YOUR TIME: Researching what type of guitar to get, which store & at which price? Do I need to get a warranty? Guitar strings, guitar Pick? How do I tune the guitar? Do I need a tuner? How much is this gonna cost after taxes? Most people go to Guitar Center to inquire about this stuff, BUT LET'S Not FORGET those Guitar Center associates aren't there to make sure you get the best product TO FIT YOUR NEEDS, at the best price, they aren't advisors, they are SALESMEN they work for commission. Yes there are some employees that are helpful & good, but that really doesn't matter, it's the way that business is, it is in their best interest to sell you more than you need, extended warranties, guitar cases, guitar stands, strings, picks, Cables, Tuners, and only what they carry. Even though you might get it cheaper at a competitor, or Amazon eBay etc.
So Forget all that noise! Call me & get a free in house LESSON. All your questions & concerns will be addressed & answered. I know you will have confidence in whichever way you decide to take your child in.
