The incredible run that our senior class has taken us on appears to be coming to an end. Last week we honored all of our teams at our annual banquet. Oliver Edwards was recognized with the Kyle Zammar Award for best representing the character and passion of Tiger Basketball, Nick Larkin received the Jason Weddle Defensive Player of Year Award, and Blake Spellman was honored as the Jeff Brockman Offensive Player of the Year. In all seven players and two managers were honored with senior letters.

Further, on Saturday, Nick and Blake were also named to the KC Star All Metro Team Team. Blake was first Team, Nick honorable mention.

Tonight was another great night for our basketball program as Blake Spellman became the first Lee's Summit Tiger to win the Direnna Award. The Direnna goes to the top basketball player in the Kansas City area. Blake shares the award with Jeriah Horne of Barstow, marking only the 3rd time in over sixty years that the award has been shared between two great players.

Past nominees for the award include Drew Lock and Patrick Richey.

The GKCBCA all star game will be held tomorrow night at SM South and will include Blake Spellman, Nick Larkin, and Oliver Edwards.

Congratulations to Blake Spellman, Nick Larkin, and Oliver Edwards on being named first team all conference. Blake and Nick were both named to the team last year and this year Blake was named Co-Player of the year. Isiah Sears and Marquawn Wilson were both named Honorable Mention.

Blake, Nick, Oliver, and Isiah were both name to the All District team, this is the third time that Blake has been named to the All District team.

Blake, Nick, and Oliver were also named to the Greater KC Basketball Association's All Star Game which will be played April 8th at SM South High School.

Blake and Nick were also invited to play in the Sideline Sports game being held at Rockhurst University on March 24.

Finally Blake has also been named one of the five finalists for the Direnna Award. The award recognizes the top player in the Kansas City Area.

We finally broke through! Heading back to state for the first time since 1988. Very proud of my guys as we leave KC at 29-0. Thank you for all the support along the way.

Last night we won our third consecutive district title over a tough Raytown team. The win moved us to 27-0 on the season. We play Wednesday at 4:45 pm at the Independence Event Center against Ray Pec in the sectional round. I am extremely proud of our kids and thankful for all of the support we have received from so many alums.

Last night's win over Blue Springs South clinched our second consecutive Suburban Gold Conference Championship. We are now 24-0 with one regular season game left. Districts begin next week at Truman High School.

Here are highlights from Friday's game.

MO Culvers Classic Summit Christian and Ruskin tried to make the third-place game the showcase, going to the wire in this dramatic finish. In the title game, it was unbeaten host Lee's Summit trying to fend off small class wrecking-ball, Archbishop O'Hara.

We successfully defended our Culver's Classic Tournament title by defeating O'hara in the finals last night. That win puts us at 15-0 as we begin defense of our Surburban Gold Conference Championship this week. Blake Spellman, Nick Larkin, and Marquawn Wilson were all named to the All Tournament team. Despite playing three days in a row It was also a strong week for our JV as they won the JV tournament title by defeating Lee's Summit North.

This week we travel to Blue Springs High School on Tuesday and host Raymore Peculiar on Friday. We would also like to remind all alums that this Friday we will be recognizing all alums in attendance before the tip of our varsity game with a social afterwards.

I hope to see a lot of former alums. Coaches Fred Turner and Glen McDonald plan to be in attendance.

The 41st Annual Culver's Tournament tips off tonight in the Field House. Ruskin and Raytown South play at 4:00, Lee's Summit North and O'Hara play at 5:30, Lee's Summit and Southwest ECC play at 7:00, and Raytown and Summit Christian play at 8:30.

We won the Patterson Division in the William Jewell Holiday Tournament with a 75-50 victory over Park Hill. Isiah Sears, Nick Larkin, and Blake Spellman made the all tournament team. Blake was named tournament MVP and Nick got the hustle award. We return to action Tuesday at home against last year's state runner up Park Hill South. We are currently 7-0, ranked #2 in the Metro and #5 in the State.
