LSEF Director Chrissy Raker Symes attended a meeting with fellow local Education Foundation Directors from Raymore, Shawnee Mission, Park Hill, Raytown, St. Joseph, and Kearney where they discussed fundraising and programs, and shared ideas and resources.
Chrissy said it was great to get together with people doing the same work from around the metro!

Before the Birdhouses Can Be Built, the Work Begins!

A crew of LSEF volunteers rolled up their sleeves and spent this morning cutting and preparing wood for the LSR7 Birdhouse Build Project!

Every 5th grader in the Lee's Summit R-7 School District will have the opportunity to build their very own birdhouse but making that hands-on experience possible takes a lot of work behind the scenes.

We’re grateful for the volunteers who make it possible for our students to BUILD, CREATE, and LEARN!

THE CHOMPSAWS ARE ON THE MOVE!
The Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation is proud to invest more than $6,000 in Chompsaws for elementary schools across the district and they are on their way to our elementary buildings!

So…what exactly is a Chompsaw? It’s a hands-on, kid-powered engineering tool that lets students safely cut and shape cardboard - turning an ordinary box or cardboard into just about anything they can imagine.

We can’t wait to see what LSR7 students build with them!
Big ideas start with simple tools... and a whole lot of imagination.
