Twenty-two 6th graders were inducted into the SRCS Safety Patrol this morning. With parents and grammar students looking on, the inductees received their pins, recited the Safety Patrol pledge with SRD Deputy Reid, and vowed to keep our students safe on campus at arrival and dismissal.
The Safety Patrol program dates back to 1920, when there were plenty of cars entering America's roads, but not enough traffic lights and stop signs. Since the 1930's, it has been a national program. Some notable Safety Patrol alumni include Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Joe Biden!

Mrs. Smart - Upper School Spanish

I was born in Panama City, Panama. I am bilingual. I have been married for 44 years to my best friend Tony Smart. I recently moved to Citrus Springs from Tampa, Florida. We spent 40 years in Tampa. We spent almost nine years in the military, stationed at George Air Force Base in California, Myrtle Beach Air Force Base in South Carolina and MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa.

I have two adult daughters and three grandchildren.

I have taught various subjects in Christian School for more than 20 years and tutored grammar, reading, and writing for more than 10 years.

I love to listen to music, ride my bicycle, and play board games with my husband and friends. I love the Lord Jesus, and I have been saved and in His service since 1983.

I look forward to using my Spanish teaching skills with my junior and senior classes here at Seven Rivers Christian School.

Mrs. Bertine - First Grade

Hi, I’m Lauren Bertine. I am teaching first grade here at Seven Rivers! I have taught for 8 years, mainly in 3rd grade. I am so excited for this new adventure God has given.

I am a former Citrus County student, graduating from Crystal River High School. I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Elementary Education from the University of Florida. Go Gators!

My husband and I have two beautiful daughters. Our oldest is in Kindergarten at SRCS. We love spending time outside, going on walks, riding bikes, and especially taking camping trips as a family.

I look forward to being a part of this beautiful family and helping teach little ones about the love of God. I feel blessed to be here and am excited for the year ahead!

Meet Our New Staff

Mr. Emenecker - Upper School Bible
Mrs. Emenecker - Grammar School Office Manager

We recently moved to the area, and we are grateful that we both have the opportunity to work at Seven Rivers. It is a blessing to work and serve in a Christian school community. In fact, our story began on a mission trip to Siberia, where we started dating. We are (newly) empty nesters with four adult children, two sons-in-law, and our first granddaughter.

Family is one of our greatest joys, and spending time with our kids is still our favorite pastime. We also enjoy reading, running, and biking. We're excited to be part of the SRCS family and contributing to the work God is doing through the school. As for a fun fact, Natalie was once a contestant on Wheel of Fortune, and Trent once played the tuba.

Second graders spent some time this week creating prayer boxes. These boxes hold the prayers the students have shared with God. This is a great way to set the priority of dependence on and relationship with Jesus in all things. Whether big or small prayers, He loves to listen and respond.

No one is more enthusiastic about the start of school than the preschoolers! School provides them with structure, stimulation, socialization, and a myriad of opportunities for growth. "Centers" is one of their favorite times of the day, as students can choose from a number of solo or group activities designed to improve fine motor skills and spark creativity. The smiles tell it all!

Dear Warrior Family,
Sunday morning, Rob McDougal, a member of our faculty, had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. He underwent bypass surgery and is in critical but stable condition.
Rob is a math teacher, coach, summer camp coordinator, friend, dad, and husband.

Would you join us to pray for Rob's healing? His wife, Jennifer, asks for these specific prayers:

1. Complete healing of his heart muscle-in particular the area in the upper heart that was affected by the heart attack, and that the rest of his heart gets stronger to compensate.

2. That they’re not being any kind of neurological damage. the concern now is brain damage even though they have ruled out stroke and clots. He is slowly now responding to deep pain stimuli but response is still slow going. The prayer here would be that there is no damage at all and that he wakes up and knows who we are and regain total and complete mental capacity.

3. That Maeve, Mia and Reese recover from seeing their dad go through this terrible experience and that they not blame themselves in any way. That this experience deepens their faith and relationship with Jesus.

4. That the Lord gives me strength to be there for my husband and my girls. And help from having any kind of panic attacks.

5. That all that we are enduring glorifies God and are arrows into the dark night for HIS Kingdom.
