🐟 If you look closely in the fish pond, you will see a new addition! The Goldfish family had a new baby goldfish to start the school year: the school voted and the baby's name is FRED!!!

Fred and his family are doing well and enjoying the visitors!💛

❤ LSSD, along with millions of Tennesseans and admirers around the globe, mourns the passing of 💟Dolly Parton💟and reflects on her impact on children, literacy, and public education.

📚Through her Imagination Library, she revolutionized childhood literacy by putting millions of books directly into the hands of children across Wilson County, Tennessee, and worldwide. She understood that early access to reading builds the foundation for lifelong achievement!📖

In honor of her extraordinary legacy, LSSD is wearing pink, sparkles, rhinestones and even a 'coat of many colors' today!🥰Stay tuned as we continue to show our love for Dolly!

🏫 Board Meeting Recap – August 25, 2026 🏫

Yesterday evening was a special night for the Lebanon Special School District community as we held our regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting, marked by transitions, heartfelt gratitude, and new beginnings!

Here are the highlights from last night:

⚖️ Swearing-In Ceremony
Before the meeting, four new board members were officially sworn in. A huge thank you to Judge Brody Kane for administering the oath of office!

Welcome to our new board members: Wayne Oakley, Maria Scalisi, Larry Jones, and Israel Woodson!

Heather Sadler Gallaher will also continue her current term on our board.

👏 Honoring Years of Dedicated Service
Last night marked the final board meeting for two long-standing members who have dedicated decades to our schools. We presented them with commemorative plaques and unveiled a special tribute: a custom wooden bench that will be placed at all 7 of our LSSD schools, featuring plaques dedicating each bench to their service.

Mark Tomlinson – Thank you for 20 years of faithful service on the LSSD Board. (2006–2026)! 🏆

Joel Thacker – Thank you for your two terms of dedication on the Board. (2002–2008 and 2020–2026)! 🏆

📅 Looking Ahead to the Next Meeting

Date & Time: Monday, September 14th at 6:00 PM

Location: Winfree Bryant Middle School

Agenda: The newly formed board will vote on the Board Chairperson position and establish the annual meeting schedule.

Ace McCarver was 1st place overall! Brantley Petty & Kendrick Watkins both placed in top 10! Almost all our runners set a new PR!

Congrats to the Lions for bringing home some more hardware!! 💪🏼🏆🦁
